The intention is great. But for newbies, there are many steps to install the mod to make it work. This is very complicated. The entire replacement could come in a single mod
How do I add another weapon to be replaced by this mod? The "Armsman's Sword" has a low quality texture and I want to replace it with another mesh and texture from sword I found. How can I do this?
it took a long time but when i finally got everything working, it looked great. if your silver swords are invisible, look in the texture and meshes folder and make sure the witcher folder starts with "weapons" and goes from there. instructions are a bit unclear in some areas but if you have the time and stick with it and read the comment posts everything will come together. also make sure u download the hotfix.
ok so im new to the bsa stuff but i think i got it figured out. in your instructions you only mentioned unpacking the meshes/textures from the jaysus swords and the yogweapons mods, but not the other two mods you said to download. are we supposed to do the same with the stamford and silver weapon mods?
I'm assuming mods that patch the Immersive Weapons mod (such as Morrowloot Ultimate) will still be able to do their work despite the textures and meshes being replaced, won't they?
They will need a patch since this mod needs ESP edits so the weapons work properly. This doesn't just replace the meshes, this makes their collision work as intended as well.
"They will need a patch since this mod needs ESP edits so the weapons work properly. This doesn't just replace the meshes, this makes their collision work as intended as well." . eeekkkk bummer.. i use alot of patches for IA (Requiem, LotD etc) but know nothing bout making a patch T_T
Thank you, essential mod for IW users! Its the best solution to just replace those bad models and textures that lets say... didn't age well.
The sabers from the Ariyan Weapon Pack were bothering me the most, as they stood out too much. To get rid of all of them, I also replaced the mesh and texture of the Alinor Saber with the Yataghan from the Ghosus Weapon Pack. The mesh needs a quick tweak in NifSkope (translation on the Z-axis) so it doesn't clip with the hand, but otherwise perfect replacement.
I was checking this out and that was one of the very first thoughts which came to mind. The other prominent one was that an overwhelming number of the pictures showed the new weapons as much darker variants. To which I wanted to comment. Heraldry is NOT un-immersive. It is not un-realistic to have old age weaponry/armory which stands out deliberately. Remember, call of duty was not a thing for them. They weren't in the hiding business. It makes sense for blades/DB/TG etc but heraldry is perfectly fine for other factions. It seemed like the heraldry on the elvish weapons was a target.
I don't really like the direction of removing color.
I also think that in cases like splitter, we made a ton of crazy hard to understand weapon shapes in human history, so it's not hard to imagine somebody trying it in Skyrim. It IS hard to say it couldn't have been purposed, (however ineffectually,) as an offensive/sword breaker/random idea mixed weapon. The weapon always seemed a little big for what i imagined it's purpose was though to be fair. And it seems like it is missing a hand hold somewhere. Like it might be intended for two hands similar to one of those crop grabbers, forget the name. (It was the size which has thus far stopped me from using it on any hero in game.) The size issue applies to a few others as well imho.
That being said I didn't drop a comment just to whine. I actually wanted to commend you. Some of the quality was very nice and I can't/won't disparage what I saw of it. If this was a mod not an alteration and immersive weapons didn't already exist I would certainly be using it. So props to your work!
All of the weapons I edited were chosen to suit my particular taste. I didn't remove the elven weapons because they were elven or shape or anything (their design is cool), but due to them being oblivion ports that stood out too much for me contrasting with Skyrim's bleaker artstyle. And some other weapons I just plainly didn't like the overall design, but I wouldn't say they are bad and that you can't like them. As I said, the cool thing about modding is that you can edit this file to suit your tastes to whatever you like.
