Tracking for now. Does the increased sneak attack damage stack with the vanilla 'Assassin's Blade' perk? Does it stack with the Shrouded Gloves' backstab enchantment?
It does, yes. It doesn't modify any of the vanilla stuff, the perk for the stilettos simply multiplies the sneak attack damage by 5, so whatever you deal normally is quintupled when using a stiletto.
I'm... not sure if you're aware that this becomes 75x damage with the vanilla Assassin's Blade perk, or 150x damage with both said perk and the Dark Brotherhood gloves.
Stacking multipliers in such high amounts is generally... really overpowered. Even the Dark Brotherhood gloves, a unique, faction-specific item, are only a multiplier of x2. Perhaps something this widely available should be more along the lines of x1.5?
For comparison, a x1.5 multiplier would give,
without the Dark Brotherhood gloves... compared to vanilla daggers....
No problem. :3 At least I didn't stay with the original pre-release setup, which was twice the original values (so it was like 10x normal, 20x on undead).
quick question, are these weapons made with lower damage than iron daggers? im using Perma and i get that it adjusts values but theyre pretty low for me
iron stiletto has 2 damage while iron dagger has 9
should i be looking to edit Perma files or was the stilettos damage just low?
The stiletto damage is low, I will say that for certain. In general, the base damage dealt by a stiletto is two points less than its equivalent dagger, but they're faster and lighter, and of course their damage increases depending on your 1-handed skill and perk choices. That said though, I'm not sure if Perma is handling them quite right since it apparently has the iron stiletto at its base damage of 2, while the iron dagger is about 4.5x that.
"If you sneak attack your foe while wielding a stiletto, they're dealt 5 times more damage compared to if you just smacked them, resulting in either severe wounds or death. Silver stilettos, if used against foes that are susceptible to silver, are dealt 10 times more damage, provided you sneak attack them of course." Doesn't ordinator change sneak attack values based on perks?
I don't use Ordinator so I dunno how it'd work, but the mod here doesn't modify any vanilla perks. The stilettos have their own perk that gets added on equipping them (like the silver sword do) and that governs the damage mult, so if Ordinator modifies the vanilla perks it may work ok, just the damage dealt by a sneak attack may be different.
Tested and the stilettos do work with the Ordinator mod.
Edit - The silver stiletto sneak damage works on undead and is compatible with Ordinator. However there is no normal sneak damage boost with the stiletto against anything not undead.
Found the issue. In the condition for the perk added when using the stilettos, you have it setup so that you would need to have every stiletto equipped for the normal sneak damage to work. I simply changed "Equal to" to "Equal to/Or" and the sneak damage is working.
Ahh, ok. I'll have to twiddle that then, it's possible it might not even be working for those without Ordinator, maybe. I'd have to test myself to make sure.
I love you for this. Stilettos are the one weapon I've wanted in Skyrim since the beginning. They look quality too, and 1+ for being historically accurate and giving a mini armaments lesson on stilettos.
Quick question, one that I've never asked, on this weapon mod or any other. What is with the segments? The random lines near the tip? Reason I've never liked any of InsanitySorrows' mods is because of this exact thing. Is it just how weapons need to be made for skyrim?
I'm not totally clear on what you're speaking of, I'm figuring either the notches present in the stiletto's blade or the lines that run around the edge of the blade that indeed show up on some of Insanity's weapons (like on this iron sword from Lore Weapon Expansion).
If we're talking the former, the notches in the stiletto's blade, it's because the stiletto I used for reference is a Gunner stiletto. Gunner stilettos were used by gunners back in the days of cannons and served a similar functionality to a dipstick in a car; they often had marks that indicated powder levels for different ranges. My replication isn't entirely accurate, since the reference I used seems to have the level marks etched into the blade, and when I first started this it looked to me like the blade was notched.
As for the lines on the blade edge that shows up on some of Insanity's stuff and others (I don't do it very often), it's a stylistic thing I believe to make the blade look like it was sharpened. The vanilla daedric weapons have this, though the low quality of the textures can make it hard to see.

No perks: 4.5x / 3x
Backstab perk: 9x / 6x
Assassin's Blade perk: 22.5x / 9x
And with the gloves...
No perks: 9x / 6x
Backstab perk: 18x / 12x
Assassin's Blade perk: 45x / 30x
EDIT: Nevermind, math's okay. Was tired.
EDIT: All sorted now with 1.2a, should be considerably less ridiculous.
