1.3: added important notes on admin mode. Updated for 60.14.
1.1: The main download now has a preliminary install guide made up of tips from the community. More useful than 1.0 . It still includes the list of imagin software for free backing up of your game partition.
Also includes all known links to older versions of Nexus Mod Manager, some from nexus, some from third party sources.
Our plan since we did not properly prepare (No joke, most of SOT Team is STILL down):
Hoping the community can help us develop a better plan for all.
But in the meantime, DO NOT UPGRADE WITHOUT A BACKUP is our firm belief after eating dirt.
Please post, and this is not a burn the nexus down forum. Its a lets help each other thru this forum.
The download contains a word documents with the most recent hints and tips as well as helpful links to various resources.

Helpful video: You should add this link in the file : [Gopher's Video (Explained in Detail)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTYgeEY2DO4). The video explains and shows a very easy reverse process if you do need to revert back to the Original Nexus without the Profiling version.
profiles are the key. i been switching profiles every step of the way to test. the more mods i add, the longer switching takes. and i am no longer seeing it install and uninstall. it is enabling and disabling symlinks. but when a mo dis loose files and has thousands of files that takes a while. until windows craps out. and when that happens the symlinks are broken. game is broken. yup.
so it is possible to switch profiles. but a high mod count is is russian roulette. i finally got it.
edit: and installing something like interesting npcs takes about 5 times longer. 30 minutes on a high end i7 extreme processor with raid 0 sdd drives. yup. the solution used for switching profiles in on a curve. the curve degrades performance and reliability the more loose files involved.
so best to use bsa packed archives when possible if profile switching is your need.
And is doomed to failure. The feature is nice on the drawing board, but not in practice. MO gets around the problem by not redoing every symlink to the data folder. Makes all the difference in the world. But such and ugly interface.... sigh...
So has anyone made a supported game list for the mod manager? Because that would be awesome, I know the Fallout Games and Skyrim work with it....and i only mod using the Manager cause it's simple....
Recently I felt like going back to Skyrim wouldn't be a bad idea, to try out new mods etc... In the process though, I uninstalled NMM, because I had too many mods on it and deleting them all felt like too long for me, and I'd rather start from zero again, and have every mod compatible to avoid game breaking stuff, but that's not the point of this comment. So I uninstalled NMM and wanted to re-install it, but then I came across this thread, which made me doubt If I should re-install NMM, this time installing the latest version, or If I should download the older one, the 0.56.1.
Additionnal info : - I did not launch skyrim since I've re-installed it (Re-installed the 31st december 2017) - NMM hasn't been used in a long time (I think the last time I used it was in June 2017 or so) -When I tried to install the latest version, during the installation a message popped up saying "this version is no longer being worked on by the nexus team" or something of the sort, so I'm worried that if I install it it may break some stuff pretty badly. -I've deleted all my saves (they were old anyway) I'm not sure if this is still relevant, but i'd rather not take risks.
If starting fresh use newest nmm . It’s upgrading or adding a different supported game that can be a disaster. Programmers over reaching what is possible with Skyrim and windows, imho.
Could someone help me out? I cant find any info anywhere. My nmm is 63.13 and recently i wanted to play again witcher 3 with clean install and i installed some mods and noticed none of them worked. And then after a "while" i noticed that nmm didnt install mods. I mean it made all the folders but they are empty. Is there a way to fix it or from now on i have to manually install everything? Thanks
After two NMM updates completely screwing over my games (NV and Skyrim) I have kind of come to the conclusion to never update NMM ever again.
Fun issue I encountered: NMM un-installs all my mods, installs them again, so far so good, I download a simple armor mod, try installing it. Surprise! Not possible, no mentions of errors or what so ever. I then start NV thinking to myself: "F*ck it, just play man" It appears that some mods have deactivated themselves before lauch (or WTF I know) I quit the game fire up NMM and whoosh, all mods are unistalled. Now slightly disgruntled, silently cursing me start installing them one by one again (suddenly possible again) AND BOOM. All of my mods are installed again! I mean what da burnin hail?! But then again, I cant install no mods anymore.
I am trying this program now. I had to reinstall it because it messed up my mod categories folder. I already had them made...armor...weapons..followers etc. Now that it is reinstalled how can I get it to recognize the mods I already have in the data folder? Is mod organizer better??
Also the new "new" nexus mod manager doesnt work properly anymore. I never had problems with the program before, even though it was unnecessarily long-winded it worked. Downloaded the new version to set up Skyrim on my win7 partition, and well^^ it refuses to install most mods for no apparent reason or just plain installs them improperly without notice of any kind resulting in a broken skyrim because it does not uninstall or delete them at all (!) anymore... Which clearly defeats the purpuse of using a mod manager in the first place. So big "Bump" - Do not update. Even if you dont have mods to loose, the program has become quite useless. I will be using Mod Organizer, didnt try yet but have only read good things about it.
Vanilla Bethesda Games are awesome- but share alot of the same issues, if you have played a version you fit to you liking- you just cant go back to playing vanilla, its somewhat horrible^^. With Skyrim it would be the atrotious combat system, sooo boring (and dumb).
Sigh. I love nexus. I am loyal to Dark One. But the nmm programmers need help. The are causing more harm than good. And reporting bugs to them is frustrating. They usually do not acknowledge the posts or issues.
Too bad someone wont make an (un-offical) updated NMM 56.1, less all that bloated non-working profile garbage. The current versions do fix a lot the the NMM 5x bugs, but NMM in its current form, is garbage. 56.1 crashes constantly, but at least it works....well...works as in does not completely wreck my install. I can tolerate 56.1 constantly crashing for no reason, but not NMM 6x's 10GB+ bloat and tendency to utterly wreck installs.
Basically, if we had NMM 6x w/o the non-working profile system, things would be fine.
I recently reinstalled skyrim, and was thinking of updating to the newest ver of NMM (I am using ver 56). the data folder for skyrim only contains vanilla files, but the folder for skyrim contains some tools and programs (enb, tes5edit, save cleaner, etc).
NOTE that I have uninstalled (not delete) all the mods for skyrim in my NMM.

Watch this video to compare NMM versus MO profiles:
looks like 60.14 blew away my game again. there seems to be a need for nmm to run as administrator to make symlinks work correctly. something to try,
buyt my game is toast again.
again.,
was not even done redoing everything.
nmm is becoming a total waste of time.
How strange, I had no issues upgrading.

brandon007: I am following your plan from now on.
The whole profile thing that NMM was always a terrible idea to begin with.
They should focus on Performance and reliability instead of introducing features that compromise the integrity of the program.

Damn update shot me game right through the skull.

After adding support for fallout 4 my skyrim modlist is shattered, see th epics and how the mods do not match the active list anymore:
Tried again, months later, totally destroyed my install.
Twice burned.....

Thanks in advance.
But do backup the folders fish biter alludes to.
