P.S. I only saw this video after I created the mod, so it is not based or inspired from this, but they point out the same thing - it is not practical to put your torch in front of your face.
Can confirm this seems to work fine in SE if you just run the one mesh through NIFoptimizer. It may or may not work even without converting but why risk problems when its so easy to do...
Like this mod a lot. Torches are very impractical to actually use in a dark modded game without it - especially if you run a reasonable FOV as the torch normally is right in your face and totally blinds you. With this it is out of the way unless you look far up. Not exactly the way you'd carry a torch IRL, but certainly much better than the vanilla style.
yep sure... always optimize all meshes from LE when you pass them to SE.. and that patch is a mesh. and for STAC you only need that patch not the main one... its same nif but only tweaked for STAC.
Also, just in case, if you use Medieval Torch SE by mathy79 and STAC.. it is included in fomod.
Does it not annoy anyone else that your pinky clips through the torch? And it also slightly clips through the palm of the hand, due to the slanted angle of the torch. I custom-edited the torch mesh to be thinner at the bottom, but my 3D model editing skills aren't great so this wasn't a satisfactory fix. But keeping the torch out of my face is essential so I think this mod is a must have. So I'm at a loss as to how to fix this

I doubt they will ever fix that since they haven't in SSE.. Apparently, it only bothers a few people (myself included) I guess it never seemed strange to anyone burning your crotch while riding a horse with a torch. F**king ridiculous. It's hard to believe it's hard to find a fix for this - the only thing that seems to possibly fix is "A Simple Mod - Torch as a Weapon" I am trying it now to fix this annoying thing (crossing fingers) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52941/?
Dude, this was the first mod I downloaded when I got Skyrim SE on sale last Black Friday. I can't remember how I found it, something random, but I immediately thought of Lindybeige. This is the first time I've looked at the posts and you've got his video linked! I'm dying!
It's nice, I converted for SSE, but I see in your pics the torch is NOT visible at all. In my build, it's still visible (but far away that used to be before).
Skyrim had an old bug: no animation for holding torch when mounting a horse, use this mod will be little more better than not use when the chacter using torch and riding a horse. Hope that f**kn Bug will be fixed.

But, it's not totally invisible (as on the pics) - you can see the torch (a bit), but of course NOT SO MUCH as before.
NIF version can't be saved with the target version (or already was). Skipping conversion.

Another mod bugged the 3rd person torch animation and I can't fix without this...
