I screwed up guys! If you were interested in this file, please remove the old version (UniqueSmithingPerk.esp) and replace with the new version (2.0, UniqueSmithingPerk.esm).

That was a my bad... If you're using the Creation Kit you would've run into a good chunk of hair-pulling stress with the old .esp file, because the Creation Kit won't let you designate a plugin file (.esp) as a master. The result is that after you save your file in the creation kit, changes that were caused by a plugin (.esp) file are essentially moot. This means that everything the first version (.esp) did was practically undone immediately after by the CK, with the exception of the perk...

Also, yes. I am aware I forgot to rename the main file from v1.0 to v2.0. Just ignore that oversight lol, still says version 2.0 in the corner :p (even though, technically the only difference is that it's an .esm instead of an .esp. :p )

TL;DR: Use the new .esm instead of the old .esp! :)
Super super sorry for any inconvenience.

have a question, how does this work with the latest SkyUI given that the dev team removed crafting category's. Ex. no eleven, steel, etc.

It would work by being able to not tie perks to things like " Daedric", so when you unlock " Daedric" perks you suddenly don't have a ton of new crafting recipes that have nothing to do with the Daedra.
So basically, if you used an armor that were tied with this, it would unlock upon acquiring the perk "Unique Smithing".
However, the forge list is going to look however SkyUI does it still (without the categories).

Also, it would mean that if you had no intent on ever using any of the vanilla armours in-game you could completely bypass them by only placing perk points in the prerequisite for Unique Smithing (Steel Smithing).

Personally, I use the crafting menus from SkyUI-Away ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29440/? ) because I absolutely detest SkyUI's forge menus lol.
Part of my hatred could stem from the fact that I use a controller, and SkyUI's menu isn't nearly as controller friendly IMO.

No problem! It was a great question

I added the details to the mod description as well, that's how good of a question it was xD
