I am wondering if this could be added to the world through Automatic Variants or something like that. This would be awesome...
In fact, any way to replace in game lanterns with any of your new lanterns would be appreciated. Once I have that, I can select the texture(s) I want and rename/replace to have what I need.
Sorry to be a pain; these lanterns are so beautiful I wish I could put all 10 types around my homes. But when I go to the ESP cell that they're in I can't pick any of them up or get their names so that I can use placeatme or player.additem to get them.
How can I actually use them? Ideally they'd be switch-on-able but if not then always-on would be a start.
I know what I want to do; add craftable versions to the mod "lanterns and candles", but I've never written a mod and I'm having a lot of trouble just finding what I need to in the CK when I try.
2 days later; I haven't figured it out after all. Whenever I use these meshes the lanterns can't be picked up, moved, switched on/off or interacted with in any way.
I followed the instructions posted by jal4568 and I end up with an unusable lantern that looks very nice, but can't do anything with it.
When I try to add new lanterns to the "lanterns and candles" mod using these meshes I get ctds whenever I try to turn them on. At least I can interact with them, so that's the farthest I've got.
So, yes, any help would still be greatly appreciated.
These are really pretty A question, though. Can you still see the animated burning flame with the stained glass? If I remember correctly it disappears if you overlap something with transparency (which is why the vanilla lantern with candle has no glass). They're so colorful, I love them!
Oh! I just would like that my lanterns in game would show one of the yellowish realistic stained glass 2 texture. I mean the ones lit and others non lit as well. The ones from chesqo werable lanterns already got a re-placer I got from NEXUS.
Is there a way to get both a different base texture & a stained glass lantern? I've figured out how to do one or the other but I can't quite get the file structure right to make both happen at the same time...
Btw, these are wonderful.
Edit - Nevermind! Figured it out. For those who want to apply this to lanterns in-game - it's not hard, just a little complex....
1) Use the .esp file to view the lanterns & pick which one you want 2) Create a new MO folder named "Lanterns-WhatEverYouWant" 3) Either extract this mod's zip or go to the mod folder for it for MO. 4) Go to \textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\ 5) View the Art textures & find the #of the lantern that you want. 6) Copy the meshes for that # lantern from: \meshes\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\ and \meshes\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\Animated_Candle 7) Create/Paste those meshes into the following folder in your "Lanterns" mod folder: \meshes\clutter\common (This should be step 8 not sunglasses guy) Rename the lantern file "CandleLantern01.nif" 9) Rename the animated file "CandleLanternwithCandle01.nif" 10) Create a folder in your "Lanterns" mod folder: \textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\ 11) Copy the "Art#.dds" and "Art#_n.dds" files from this mod into that folder from step 10 - Do Not Change the Name! 12) Create a folder in your "Lanterns" mod folder: \textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\Lantern-Base\ 13) In the original mod go to \textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\Lantern-Base\ 14) Copy the base texture & associated normal file that you want. 15) Paste base texture files into folder from step 12. 16) Rename your texture files - "blackiron copy.dds" and "blackiron copy_n.dds". 17) Confirm change either in-game or with CK.

1) Use the .esp file to view the lanterns & pick which one you want
2) Create a new MO folder named "Lanterns-WhatEverYouWant"
3) Either extract this mod's zip or go to the mod folder for it for MO.
4) Go to \textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\
5) View the Art textures & find the #of the lantern that you want.
6) Copy the meshes for that # lantern from:
\meshes\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\
and \meshes\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\Animated_Candle
7) Create/Paste those meshes into the following folder in your "Lanterns" mod folder:
\meshes\clutter\common
(This should be step 8 not sunglasses guy) Rename the lantern file "CandleLantern01.nif"
9) Rename the animated file "CandleLanternwithCandle01.nif"
10) Create a folder in your "Lanterns" mod folder:
\textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\
11) Copy the "Art#.dds" and "Art#_n.dds" files from this mod into that folder from step 10 - Do Not Change the Name!
12) Create a folder in your "Lanterns" mod folder:
\textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\Lantern-Base\
13) In the original mod go to \textures\clutter\StainedGlass-2.0a\Lantern-Base\
14) Copy the base texture & associated normal file that you want.
15) Paste base texture files into folder from step 12.
16) Rename your texture files - "blackiron copy.dds" and "blackiron copy_n.dds".
17) Confirm change either in-game or with CK.
