vanilla can't chop wood during combat, if click to chop wood at this time game displayed "enemies nearby can't chop wood", the cd seems still be triggered.
Instead of making it a cool down thing, could you make it so the wood actually goes when you pick one up once you've finished with the woods gone it's all gone (without the wood still being there and just saying you can't carry on etc) but you can somehow obtain wood possibly from the lumber mills?
Yeah... I didn't think it could be done easily but if you manage to do it, it would be so awesome and i'd get the mod asap (if I actually remember) but thanks for hearin me out anyway :3
side note : I know I literally just asked for something but could you add more NPCs who are willing to buy firewood, as you probably know walking in Skyrim is a nightmare, also i'm not sure if you're aware of this but the dialogue option for selling your firewood doesn't appear if you don't have any to sell, if you're wondering why i'd want it to show up if you don't have any it's because it's easier to find him first instead of having to walk everywhere with the firewood (it's so painful to watch :\ ) (if possible can they always be in one position until they like sleep or somethin - just so we get to sleep without sore feet) thanks - I'll try to go away this time xD
I'm not sure whether that's by default. I think having firewood in your inventory is a requirement for the dialogue to show up. If I have time, I'll take a look at it.
Given your interest in Skyrim's woodcutting, I was wondering if I might persuade you to create a patch between Woodcutter and Dynamic Things in order to make Woodcutter compatible with Frostfall. I posted this request on the Woodcutter page a couple weeks ago, but have yet to hear back. Here's a copy of that post to give you an idea of what I'm hoping for:

Dynamic Things had to make some adjustments to woodcutting in order to be compatible with Frostfall, so I figured your mod might need to as well if people want to use them together.
**** I think, all you have to do is create four new recipes (actually, four for each tree type) to turn Woodcutter's logs into woodpiles (small, medium, large, and huge), then Woodcutter would be compatible with Frostfall automatically as long as you also install Dynamic Things. ****
from the Dynamic Things page: "There are four different piles of wood in Skyrim – small, medium, large and huge (hey that’s what the Creation Kit called them). The potential firewood count per container is as follows: Small 4-6 pieces, Medium 8-12 pieces, Large 12-18 pieces, Huge 16-24 pieces."
Dynamic Things is great, but you don't get to watch the trees fall like you do in Woodcutter.
I **think** that's all it would take to make them compatible. I suppose the woodpiles wouldn't be able to be turned back into their respective tree types without additional work, but I figure once you've made the decision to use a tree for firewood it's not that big of a deal that you can no longer craft with it. You can always chop more trees for crafting when desired.
P.S. If the first idea interests you, perhaps this bit might as well: Woodcutter also comes with its own Woodcutter's axe. Do you think it would be possible to make it show up on Frostfall's Dynamic Backpacks? Or better yet - find a way to make Frostfall's axe compatible with Woodcutter, so you can chop down trees with it, and watch them fall!
It does sound interesting. Unfortunately, I'm already working on another massive project, so my time is very limited at the moment. Also, I assume this does involve some heavy scripting, which has several issues. Firstly, I'll need permission from the mod author to use their script sources. Secondly, I'm not yet that experienced in heavy scripting. I do know how to achieve simple stuff, like this mod, in papyrus, though.
If I'm finished with my current project, I'll take a look at it.
I had hoped that since Dynamic Things already laid down a bridge to Frostfall that it would just be a matter of adding those few recipes turning logs into woodpiles, but sounds like there's a bit more to it. I'll keep an eye out in case you're able to work on it in the future.
Anyway, I appreciate your consideration, as well as all the work you've done on your other mods. Good luck with your current project!
Hopefully someday I'll have the modding chops to tackle some of my ideas myself.
Ahhh Have you ever actually cut firewood before? Ive made a living before doing it truckloads of it for 3 years on the same block..... Not sure why you say its not realistic.....
I was expecting maybe the woodpile would vanish, 6 pieces limit at a lumber mill is more unrealistic than the original. I mean a lumber mill with all those massive logs everywhere has only 6 pieces of wood? This is more challenge but not more realistic. 7 day cool down in a world where most people can grab an ax and go cut a tree is extreme. You might want to consider ( if possible) a real depleting pile that could be replenished with wood from a lumber mill, in cities like Whiterun the cool down should be hours or a day given someone else will add more or mark the chopping block owned stopping player use all together.
If you're talking about Riverwood, there are actually 3 woodchopping blocks.
The logic behind my mod is that the remaining pile of firewood is not suitable for chopping (yet).
You can get more pieces of wood by using Complete Crafting Overhaul (it has a setting that can increase the amount of firewood you can get per activation)
As for the days, I included a guide on how to edit them in the description.

Thanks for the suggestion

I'm not looking for realism, i want something hardcore, but i don't reject realism at the same time.
What this mod offer is better than what we had to deal with.

How about 1-3 days at 12 logs each spot?
I'll make a 3 day with 12 logs alternate version asap.
Edit: Made a short guide on how to edit the amount of days.
