Update:

Version 2.0 now includes a veritable rainbow of new color options for the glowing Stones of Barenziah!

I am now also able to include new matching box textures thanks to the resident texture wizard himself, Gamwich!

I'm not absolutely certain that these new color options are 100% lore-friendly, although, to be honest, I haven't found anything in TES lore that says the Stones of Barenziah necessarily have to be red. So there!

As of version 2, Barenziah's Glory is now a firm requirement. This is due to the fact that I'm including a new diffuse texture for the box, for all color options, and the corresponding normal map is available exclusively through that mod.

Users of fadingsignal's box texture (or any other besides Gamwich's) are, unfortunately, limited to version 1 of this mod. If it seems like there's further demand for additional color-matching versions of the box texture, I'll see about dealing with it at that time.

Original Treatise:

I have used Saerileth's excellent Barenziah's Glory mod for a while now, because it's easily the best mod for improving the visuals of the Crown and Stones of Barenziah on the Nexus. However, as much as I love the awesome glimmering quality that Saerileth's mods are known for (and Barenziah's Glory is no exception), I recently found myself missing the glow that used to accompany the Stones of Barenziah.

What can I say?

I like my floating baubles to glow, apparently.

Thanks SuperheLux for the version 1 showcase video!

Details:

In a nutshell: I took the meshes into Nifskope, re-UV'ed the gems to twice their previous scale, messed with some properties, flipped some things around, then loaded up Photoshop, made some new 1k Stone textures and - voilĂ ! - glowing Stones of Barenziah that still seem to glitter in the light as well.

Mind you, in doing this, I've somewhat undone quite a bit of what Saerileth has done to make the gems look so realistic, but I was pleasantly surprised by the results and thought that it might be something that could appeal to people who also like a little glow with their shiny.

Finally, thanks to Saerileth's gracious nature, I am able to share them with you.

Also, if you like the new colors so much that you can't choose just one, make sure to check out Multi-Colored Barenziah's Glowing by FaegenFeorhlif!

Installation:

Version 2:

To use this mod, you're first going to need to download and install Barenziah's Glory using whichever resolution options you prefer, but you MUST install Gamwich's box textures! Then download and install this mod, preferably using NMM or similar, overwriting files when necessary. I have also included alternate, medium res textures for both the Stones and their boxes in the installer, for those who need or prefer them.

The specific files being overwritten are as follows:

meshes\clutter\quest\barenziahscrowncomplete.nif
meshes\clutter\quest\barenziahscrowncompletewithstand.nif
meshes\clutter\quest\barenziahsjewelrybox.nif
textures\clutter\quest\barenziahsjewelrybox.dds

Version 1:

To use this mod, you're first going to need to download and install Barenziah's Glory in whatever configuration you prefer (I use the 1k crown texture and Gamwich's stellar 2k box texture, myself) and then download and install this mod, preferably using NMM or similar, overwriting files when necessary. I have also included alternate, lower res 512px gem textures in the installer, for those who need or prefer them.

The specific files being overwritten are as follows:

meshes\clutter\quest\barenziahscrowncomplete.nif
meshes\clutter\quest\barenziahscrowncompletewithstand.nif
meshes\clutter\quest\barenziahsjewelrybox.nif

No textures should be overwritten (unless you are somehow already using a mod which adds new textures for the gems with the same names as mine).

Compatibility:

Version 1 of this mod was, as with Barenziah's Glory, technically compatible with any texture replacer for the Crown and/or box, but I recommended - no, insisted! - that you downloaded and installed that mod first to experience this mod's true potential. The Stones, on the other hand, were entirely different and as such, are incompatible with other texture replacers.

As of version 2, this mod is only compatible with Barenziah's Glory, and only using Gamwich's box texture from that mod (I can't stress this enough).

Notes:

I still have not been able to test for the appearance of my newly-colorful glowing Stones of Barenziah under the influence of various ENBs. If you are running any of the more popular ENB flavors, I'd still love to see how these look with your config, so please don't hesitate to share an image or two (along with info on what ENB the image was taken with in the title).

As ever, thanks!
