I don't recommend using this anymore. In fact I completely forgot I wrote up this tutorial. I made this long before the creation kit was released and modders were forced to make replacers instead of standalones, so I came up with this long, convoluted way of making it work. I'd really recommend using the creation kit now. It's much easier than the way I've laid out here.
So i did The Darkbrotherhood Armor TS Edition (ancient shrouded armor) as a standalone version without enchants, but i still cant enchant it. any idea on why that is? (the default armor has a 100% psn resist enchant on it).
Thank you so much for this! I just needed to do a simple stand-alone using the vanilla mesh so I could add my re-texture. This was straight forward and easy to understand. Will Endorse when nexus says I have had it long enough to. :-/
Advice: If you want see new armor in your inventory you must change path for (name)go.nif files in Creation Kit. -open CK and load Skyrim.esm and (your mod).esp (esp must be "Active") -search your mod by name, click "All" (left site of list ) -edit files which have "ARMO" in "Form type" -in new window find "World Model", clik "Edit" -in second new window you have path for (name)go.nif, click "Edit" and find your nif file for your armor -click Ok, second Ok and Save esp Now you can try new settings in your game. Enjoy.
Seems like you didnt mention anything about changing armor class, is it possible to change heavy armor into light armor or the other way around? Sorry I didnt have a look into those editing tools to find out myself, thats because I am only interested in changing armor class of some player made armors and if Its not possible I wont bother.
