Really wish you have used leanwolfs's weapon meshes from better shaped weapons.

I scale most of my edits back down to the bethesda hd texture pack resolution for the textures that were covered by those, for the stock vanilla textures it depends how low they were.. and if I am losing a lot of detail by needlessly sticking to that . It kind of goes both ways though, if there is a map that is 2k in a high res pack, and I don't notice any difference in game from it being 1k then I will go with the smaller one.

When I occasionally feel like releasing 4k versions (rare now I think) then I add as an optional file

Among all of your spooky edits, this is that I like the most. But, you missed the greatsword, battleaxe, and warhammer. I hope you could finish retexturing those 3 as well. Thank you!

hmm, everything should be covered by this... sounds like a conflict but I'm not sure how since I edited all of the mesh files as well :)... normally that would mean this mod should override any normal mod when installed on top.

The daedric sword and the greatsword both use the same texture, does the normal sword look spookified ? :)

grumble .. my character can't even wear the body armor / boots hehe.. 200 odd hours in a requiem playthrough and all I've found are the gauntlets and helmet.. only 1 piece of each daedric part in the whole of skyrim is just mean !

I like the subtle glow of the glow version, but I think something is still missing. Hmm....If you already added glow, why not add a glowing pair of eyes? Maybe something like this: http://i58.tinypic.com/t8sqpf.jpg

When you make a lossless option do you have a quality analogue like...lossless equals 4k or lossless uses 2x the vram of the lossy option? Just wondering what the differences are between lossy and not.

Nice to see a new spooky mod

heya .. going by file size the 2k lossless versions I make without alpha generally come out at around 16mb, whereas 4k compressed would be around 10mb.. how that equates to video memory usage I am unsure... might not be a direct relationship, though there is definitely a correlation between how large a texture is and the time it takes to load into the gfx cards vram so I guess it could be as simple as that.

I wish I could be more enlightening on the subject but the few google searches I have done don't seem to clarify it much for me.. could be dim

My experiences with how it effects the game are hmm.. typically if your gfx card can handle one lossless (or 4k etc) armor set that isn't likely to be used by other npcs you should be ok for quite a few since when you swap a piece out for something else you are freeing up vram for the next piece you put on etc, though this will cut into the available ram available for other mods. It's when you meet other npcs wearing large textures different to the outfit you are in that problems might arise hehe.

I don't think Iv had a crash from the gfx card running out of ram, but there have been a few occasions where I have been testing larger packs without bothering to run everthing through ddsopt to compress normals / refmaps etc and I have ended up with trees not swapping to their higher res versions.. get stuck as the distant low poly ugliness

Edit: Quality wise it varies from texture to texture.. some of my edits like this and the molag bal mace I don't feel the higher bit depth adds much, but if anyone wants to edit / resize etc it's best to upload em .. Other edits where I have gone really dark the difference between 16bit and compressed 8bit is crazy.

Edit2 : oops hehe, I always get confused by this.. I work at 16bits per channel (red green blue) and save at 8bits per channel.. which equates to 24 bits per pixel (16,777,216 possible colors for any single pixel).. dxt5 always has an alpha, but is limited to 8 bits (256 possible colors) per pixel total.. so my lossless versions have ^3 times the amount of color depth. It's pretty much the difference between image formats like .bmp bitmap / .tga targa / .tif tiff and a .gif web format in quality I think, with gif maybe devoting more of its data to colours. I still class my "lossless" versions as low bit depth considering I lose 281,474,959,933,440 possible colors per pixel in the conversion process hehe.. and that's just me working at half float ! . Haven't attempted a 16 bit per channel texture in skyrim... yet hehe

Edit3: so yeah heh.. I guess since color depth is exponential to an insane level, I do prefer to fill my gfx cards memory up with that instead of 4k / 8k . I really don't understand why there isn't a third option.. like no-one looks at .gif images really, they look at .jpeg; a happy medium between crap and perfect .. there is a middle ground image format that skyrim can use which I think is called 565 and claims to be 16bit per pixel but every time I have used that my textures have ended up even uglier than dxt5 :/.. might try playing with it some more

I don't think they add anything good to the look of the game really ?.. removing them completely was my "finally making some progress!" moment

But that is probably a personal taste thing, I will play around with them after I have finished the weapons.. if I come up with something I like I will upload.. it would be for the male characters only though since I feel the female maybe looks strange without the gauntlets and boots glow effect ?, and even if I got permission for editing the unofficial skyrim texture patch meshes that adds them to the female, they flicker quite badly on the gauntlets here :/.

Edit: by flicker I mean there is a slight overlap issue sometimes with the gauntlet mesh.. probably imprefect weight maps on the glow meshes they added.. a pain to fix since I'd have to relearn how to use max
