Not So Fast - Mage Guild 1.3

by CDCooley
2015-06-10

for
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

*********************************************************************

Introduces two pauses in the rather short mage guild quest line at
the College of Winterhold and allows for customizing the start of
the three apprentices' quests. The actual time delays can be set
with SkyUI's MCM (or the console).

* Tolfdir will not start the Saarthal quest at the end of the
initial lesson on Wards. After 8 days if you are near Tolfdir
on some morning before 9:00 (which you will be if sleeping
in your assigned bed) he will approach and tell you about the
expedition to Saarthal. (Since you and the other apprentices
are all in the room, the dialogue still makes sense.)

* After recovering the lost books and being sent to Tolfdir by
Urag, Tolfdir will make his observations about the Orb, but
Ancano will not interrupt the conversation. After 8 days the
Psijic monk will have arrived and if you enter the Hall of
Elements Ancano will be looking for you.

* Brelyna, J'Zargo, and Onmund have personal quests that originally
only start after the Saarthal quest is complete. But now they can
be started earlier. By default, Brelyna's personal quest will be
available on the day after the Wards lesson and then J'Zargo's on
the next day and then Onmund's after that. You can set all three
to start on the same day if you like. Any that are not started
before you enter Saarthal will be started when you make your
report to the archmage.

These particular changes were chosen because it required the least
amount of dialog editing.

Version 1.1 simply removes a dirty edit added by the CK.
Version 1.2 should ensure the second delay always works.
Version 1.3 adds configurable delays for the apprentice quests.

POTENTIAL MOD CONFLICTS

Quests MG01, MG02, and MG04 along with their scripts, scenes, and
some AI packages are edited by this mod. Changes from the Unofficial
Skyrim Patch have been included, but other mods changing those quests
will probably conflict.

CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

The two main options (Saarthal Expedition and Psijic Monk Visit) both
have a default delay of 8 days. Choosing a value of -1 effectively
disables advancing the quest until you change the setting again
which is useful for those who would prefer a pause based on
achieving specific character goals instead of a time-based delay.
Setting the Psijic Monk Visit delay to 0 will not restore the
interaction between Ancano and Tolfdir, but it will allow Ancano
to approach you immediately after listening to Tolfdir. Setting
the Saarthal Expedition delay value to zero may still not start
that quest until the following morning since the Saarthal quest
can now only be started when you are near Tolfdir before 9:00.

The three apprentice quest settings are 1, 2, and 3 days of delay
by default. They are linked to the Saarthal timer and when any of
the four trigger the others are updated with the remaining number
of days, but normally the values won't change as time passes.

For those without SkyUI use these console commands with any value
of -1 or higher. The default values are used for the examples.

setpqv MG01 NSFMG_SaarthalDelay 8

setpqv MG04 NSFMG_PsijicDelay 8

setpqv MG01 NSFMG_BrelynaDelay 1

setpqv MG01 NSFMG_JzargoDelay 2

setpqv MG01 NSFMG_OnmundDelay 3
