About this mod

A minor tweak that lightly staggers archers currently in combat when they are hit. Beware, you are susceptible as well.

Installation
--------------------
  • NMM

OR
  • Drop Interruptible Archers.esp in \steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data
  • Check the box for Interruptible Archers in Data Files in the Skyrim Launcher

Why
--------------------
I like my archery more deadly. So I installed deadlyHeadshots.

However this came into conflict with archers that were able to one-shot me in close quarters immediately after they had their head smashed with a mace.

I thought it would be nice if an archer would have to pay a price for attempting to point-blank shot my face. Enter this mod.

What
--------------------
The situation is pretty simple. The Player and NPCs "inCombat" will stagger "onHit" if they have a bow drawn.

The stagger is fairly light, it's enough to interrupt an archer attempting to fire, but not a full "OMG WTF I'M DRUNK" fall to a knee. Whacking a bandit as he comes around a corner with his bow drawn is pretty satisfying. For extra RP yell, "Attack of opportunity, cauliflower face!" It's also enjoyable to sidestep an incoming arrow and plug the poor bastard a few times knowing that was his last mistake.

The biggest potential complaint that may occur is, as the player, you will stagger for simply having your bow drawn (note: drawn out of storage, not simply equipped) when you are hit.

I really wanted to make the mod identify when a bow was in the process of being drawn (pulled taut in preparation of loosing an arrow, not drawn out of storage), however that proved to be something I haven't yet been able to determine, so this is the compromise I had to make. If any other modders would like to comment on a way this could be done, I'd love to change it.

Requirements
--------------------
  • Skyrim

It should be compatible with all updates and expansions.

Compatibility
--------------------
I have over 75 mods currently installed while I'm playing. I have noticed no issues. The only mods I have installed that I could conceive would have issues are the following:

Again, I've noticed no issues, your mileage may vary.

Future
--------------------
I've thought of adding other things to this, but considered this enough for what it is.

If there are bugs or there is interest in something more, consideration will be given.
