Made first and foremost for me. I hope everyone likes it. Feel free to report any bugs or other issues related to this mod. I, however, cannot guarantee that I will be able to resolve everything.
Random Mining has been updated to a configurable MCM. Please use Random Mining MCM instead of the regular Random Mining mod to obtain experience for using the mining spell. Thank you.
It really is handy if you play like a nomad and don't have any smelters on hand though. Btw is it safe to merge it with other stuff? I kinda want to keep the esp count as low as possible so having anther .esp file with only 2 new spells is kinda...wastefull i guess.
Honestly, I do not know. I have no idea if the merging tools have gotten smart enough to handle plugins with scripts. If they have, give it a shot. Just know that I cannot assist with any issues that arise.
Thanks so much for updating and sharing this mod with us! It works wonderfully with Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade - and specifically the changes to the amount of ore I chose to extract for each "strike".I am really happy to not have be trapped in the mining animation sequence while Skyrim Immersive Creatures spawns an Ore Guardian - this mod literally is a lifesaver for my poor mage!
So is it just me or does this lessen the amount of gemstones you tend to get from a mining deposit? Perhaps I'm wrong but it just felt like I was getting a lot more raw garnets and things when I went to mine iron deposits and stuff in the past than I do with this spell.
To be honest... the gems are the MAIN reason my character mines since she likes to collect them for decorating. The icky ugly iron just gets sold off as scrap to a merchant or tossed aside asap... so to see myself mining out a deposit and not getting any gems... it's a very disappointing thing!
Ability to obtain gems is not changed with this mod. That is handled by the script attached to the ore veins as well as the leveled list that is assigned to the gems list property on said script. Neither of which this mod touches.
By that logic you get exactly the same amount of ores by using the spell and by using the pickaxe, even if the amount was increased by a mod? Because with Requiem I get 4-5 ores at least per node, with your spell I only get one. I'd like to make a compatibility patch for myself, could you please give me a few pointers?
I take it back:
The mod's spell does indeed give you the same amount of ores as a pickaxe would. My confusion came from the fact that you get the 6 ores one by one with a pickaxe, but you get all of them in a one go with the spell. But in the end you get the same reward, it is just a bit faster with the spell.
i love it, i've played skyrim for so long and tried all types of character, this is indeed very useful for magic user, can you make a mod for a thief? hehehe a great mod, thanks for sharing. may the dragon blood guide you,
Amazing idea. I have always wanted something like this. More than once in game, I've had to pull a pickaxe out of my robed butt to mine some ore, thinking at the time that my lovely elitest mage character should not be bending over back to collect ore; why couldn't he just use a spell to do it for him?
Last I checked CCOR provides smithing experience and has no ability to provide alteration experience. If you want alteration experience, you'll need to use a different mod for the MineOreScript. If you want smithing experience instead, using CCOR should be fine.

It works best with swords. Axes, maces and the like will have major clipping issues with the head.
Downloaded and Endorsed.
I see no reason why it would not. Only drawback would be the lack of experience gain.
