    Good morning,

I'm sure it's something obvious I'm just missing, but what is the difference between this and your Legendary Skyrim Sorted (#61991)? As far as I've been able to ascertain, they both are sorting mods that include all DLCs. What are my old eyes not seeing?

When is somebody gonna break with sorting tradition and add more "types"? There's only so much that can be done with the names themselves. Also, a lot of other foolishness has been ignored, like not being able to sort books on read/unread!

(I'm not directing an accusing finger at All DLC Sorting Solution in particular, just observing general shortcomings of all such mods and wondering why that is....)

How about if people actually suggest things? (As in more "Types" ) Seriously there are thousands of items that are added in by other mods what are you talking about?

I am welcome to the idea of making additions for other things I already have added support of two crossbow mods and Book covers skyrim (Did you even bother to see that?)

Up until I released this mod non of the other sorting mods had been fully updated in 3 or so years and allot of official and unofficial patches that had been released.

As for the unread thing there are two well known mods that work really well and work to date with no issues that do that so adding that would be a direct copy of those and I am sure pretty well frowned upon.

Instead of coming here complaining actually try to provide productive comments and suggest things to add.

I also have been renaming things that were never touched on before (Like the paragon gems)

Do you even know what kind of work goes into organizing the names of over a thousand items and types?

I did suggest two very specific things, though I wasn't specific enough explaining the first and you got annoyed, so annoyed you ignored the second one. I'm very aware how much work goes into this, as I've been tempted to begin my own private comprehensive renaming to include the mods that I anticipate continuing to use. Renaming items isn't what I was suggesting; you seem to have misunderstood and I should have clarified what type of "type" I meant.

I was referring to the base item type, as seen in the second inventory column. Imagine if there was a finer division there, and using type names of a style similar to the renamed items in these sorting mods, punctuated with a colon or dash. That reimagined Type column would be able to offer an extra level of control over the sorting not possible with just renamed items alone. (As a secondary project, some day I'd like to ADD types to the game and mod items that currently lack them, and correct the ones that are obviously wrong, e.g. "notes" that are mis-typed as "books".)

Is that even possible? I optimistically assumed it was, but perhaps it's not since I haven't found even one mod that attempts it. I'm not sure exactly how that is represented in the game resources yet; is it a KWDA entry or something else? Maybe it's all hard-wired data that can't be touched?

Is my second specific suggestion, an extra Books column (or other means) to sort by read status, equally impossible? Again, haven't yet seen a mod do it, but I'm pretty sure that one is feasible.

As for suggesting what other mods should have their added items included in a renaming project, I wouldn't even presume to ask because it's such an incredibly subjective thing. All the obvious popular ones are either already included in at least one sorting mod or they're on the drawing board of one.

AH i see, my mod making skills are nowhere near what would be needed for extra columns, and I did go through every book and renamed the notes to notes and the notes that were labeled as books went to notes vice-versa and so on. (Allot of that had been fixed in the uskp)

Some of what your looking for I believe could be achieved with the addition of skyui, and I would welcome the ability to add what would probably labeled as sub-types? I did just get my feet wet with modding and am trying to learn more as I go as I have great plans for things I would like to see.

As am I completely new to Skyrim modding! I'm beginning to comprehend what is possible and scheming to "mod the mods" as a beginning learning experience, while at the same dreaming HUGE like I did here. :-|

Could you point me in the right direction to get my books SORTED (not marked), by unread / read status?

      Thanks in advance

The only issue I have with your naming systems is that the book re-naming breaks sets when one book in the set is a skill book or other special type of book.... having the skill name at the front means you can't sort the book sets properly - surprised your OCD didn't get worked up about this because it drives me nuts esp with Book Covers installed and sets look really good on the shelves together.

So the question is... are the fixes for the issues installed even if you don't install the renaming option for books?

    Otherwise love it!

Apparently not.... bounds fixes are tied into renaming the books. Still can't fathom how anyone could stand the messed up sets.

Oh.... and "Heart - Briar" doesn't seem to be recognised by the vanilla Repairing The Phial quest as being a Forsworn Heart

Great work on this. It's a shame other mods may overwrite some of the names, but this will certainly help with organizing my inventory.

While trying to merge the separate esp file into one, I found a small bug. The DLC2NordicArrow record in the Ammo esp has a Weapon and Armor Fixes Remade keyword assigned. Not a big deal for (I just deleted it), but I thought I'd report it for any future updates of this mod. But that's the only issue I saw, aside from some small USKP and UDGP edits that were probably added after this mod's last release.

I know this took some time and effort and kudos to you for undertaking it to benefit the community. However I have some questions.

I gave up on inventory sorters (really item renamers) in Bethesda games once I found out the issues they cause to mods that edit the same records loaded before them and loaded after them. For instance if a mod wants to adjust a sword's damage or mesh path it will over-write your renaming if it's loaded after yours. Conversely if your mod comes after the sword mod, the sword's damage/mesh will not be altered since your record will win that conflict rendering the mod edit of that sword useless and causing user confusion.

So what are your thoughts on how will this mod interact with all the other mods that also interact with these items? Can a Bashed/Merged patch deal with this? I don't see how they could resolve the conflicts at least consistently. Is there a bashtag that will tell WryeBash to use the name from this mod but everything else from the second mod?

Large overhaul mods such as Complete Crafting Overhaul Reborn, Weapons & Armor Fixes Remade, Clothing & Clutter Fixes and even game overhauls like SkyRe, PerMa, Requiem would seem to me to be incompatible with most of the renamed records. Patching all the conflicts would lead to a lot of patches. I'd bet the patches would be more work than the original mod since you'd be touching all conflicting records over again for the patch only to do it over again with each update of the patched mod. It can get crazy really fast.

I suppose the only approach we have to this kind of sorting is to edit every item that can be picked up, give it a new name and then live with the issues that causes downstream or upstream in the load order.

I actually have a couple of ideas because of your post.

CCOR and WAF have special conditions built into the for just that sort of thing but getting the community as a whole to use something that would work for everyone would be a nightmare.

Kinda made me think though. Maybe I should make the combined esp a master and have it load right after the main files and patches then just let the mods fight it out afterwards. Definitely worth a though so my sorter in no way interferes with anyone's mods.

      Bashtag "Names".

You also have an export/import option to create a .csv file to import the names into your bashed patch. In some cases eliminating the need for the sorting .esp

I'm experimenting with this for Book Covers Skyrim, but it works for CCO -redone and its companions. Works with a few other mods I run as well.

Best way to determine for sure is to open up your whole order in TES5edit and go through the records in your Bashed Patch and compare them to the remainder with the "show only conficting lines" option.

You seem to know quite a bit about this subject. Before reading your post, I was going to inquire if creating a TES5Edit Merged Patch on the load order (sans dynamic patches, etc.) to combine the changes from other mods that edit item stats with the item names of ADSS.

Sorting via item name editing is always going to be a problem. It a problem that is compounded by the number of mods you have any one of which might need to edit a record a mod has renamed. Merge and Bash patches can only go so far in correcting those conflicts and having to review every renamed item manually for issues is a tedious process and will have to be repeated with every mod update, removal or addition.

I don't think there is an apparent inventory sorting solution that returns more than it takes in terms of time and complexity. Maybe a script based approach but that could be resource intensive. Perhaps a Sky Proc method could be worked out but it would take an expert in that approach.

For me I don't even look for sorting anymore. I just use container auto-sorting systems to move stuff from my inventory to containers and I find that takes care of most the the issues with sorting. Ingredients, potions smithing and such are auto moved from my inventory to containers in my home. The Craftable Cloud Storage (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25422/?) is a favorite mod in my game now. Makes inventory management so much easier I don't worry about how it sorts in my screen when I can transfer it to proper, named storage with a single click.

For my crafted and enchanted gear I started using naming schemes to group sets together. For instance if I have a set of gear I use for ranged fighting I prefix everything with a made up name like Black Wolf Bow, Black Wolf Armor, etc.. It keeps weapons, armor and accessories grouped next to each other for fast access. Jax's renamer takes care of the items I need renamed so they group.

Good Morning or evening. I'm using your mod for some time now and today I just saw in misc section of inventory the amethyst and ruby are not categorized as gems as the other ones. The load order of mine have to do with this?

    Thanks in advance!!!!

Ps: Im using the full content with Book Covers patch

EDIT: I rearranged the load order and the amethyst & ruby took the gem category.

This mod literally only changes names of items in the game, it shouldnt cause any crashes. Check if you haver any proccer patches or a bashed patch as removing this after merging it will cause the patches to require this as a master.

Hi, im hoping you can help! I have been trying for ages to get a sorting mod to work with arrows, and after finding NPO (where i found your link) I feel its even more necessary with more bolts added etc. However, for some reason, every sorting mod i try doesnt affect my vanilla arrows and bolts! Looking in the console it seems "duplicate" arrows are being changed instead, ones which dont seem to be in the levelled lists. Have you come across this before? I'm thinking its most likely frostfall, since it adds craftable versions of arrows, but since its in my dual sheath patch I really dont want to mess with uninstalling it! Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Edit: OK, decided to load every mod i had up in tesvedit to see what mod had added the arrows, and turns out they are actually in the skyrim.esm file.. I am now stumped. Any ideas why yours and every other sorting mod for that matter wants to change the wrong arrows?

I have a bashed patch. Upon looking at the bash in tesvedit I notice that it does bring over the "code" but doesnt change the name, so it has the record there, just reverted back to vanilla. I dont think its your or any other modders fault, i must have a conflict somewhere, causing a master override. Its fine, I can use your patch to allow me to edit the bashed patch to change everything back, wont be fun when i need to rebuild the patch though xD

Yeah, several hundred click 'n drag name changes aren't fun...

HOWEVER, as I understand using bash it's primary function is for leveled lists so just don't add mine into bash as I change no leveled lists it then should be fine.

Ah! So its because the bash patch is using the unofficial patches name tags? Good to know man i will have a look.

Edit: Yep, i can confirm that works like a charm! Thanks very much!
