I remember back in my day when cheat codes were: UP + DOWN + UP + DOWN + LEFT + RIGHT + LEFT + RIGHT + A + B + A + B + START. None of this "press tilda to open the cheat console" you kids claim is "retro".
Excuse me. . . I am off to make a mod. . .
W + S + W + S + A + D + A + D + [LCLICK] + [RCLICK] + [LCLICK] + [RCLICK] +[TAB]
Thank you for the inspiration, I might throw on an endorsement just for that.
yeah,i know what you mean: i remember some konami-style codes myself, but here's the thing: for most of my life: i didn't own a game console so most of the codes i had were either phrase based like COMEFLYWITHME or JJNV or they were commands like the ones in daggerfall or morrowind(enablecheats or player->. i know its a bit lame to have been from the pretty late console generation and not own one myself but hey, childhood varies, right?
and by the way,if you look at the time that has passed since this method of cheating was implemented: you could say its pretty "Retro". even "Game genie" "gameshark" and "Action replay" later on needed some sort of hex input to work so it ain't like this method is that "childish and new"
Your description could use some tidying. But other than that I love this I want to go back and plays Vice City now I will always remember the cheat that made female characters follow you "FANNYMAGNET"
vice city was awesome! i still see alot of vintage gaming stores around my country selling copies of it ad discount prices. it was some of the best Open World fun i had as a pre-teen
You should really give us some examples for the cheats that you created, I don't want to download your file, just to find out that I don't like the cheats you created.
hey I like what you did and I of course took advantage of your bat files to make designer files for my character. Well done and thanks for your research and time invested to make these files. Your pdf file was enjoyable and I liked the flair you gave to the names of the files.
sure man: have fun using it for whatever bat phrasing you want. just be sure to credit me for some of it(if not for the programming itself then atleast for the idea )
yeah,AOM was one of my earilest RTS experiences(my older brother and i used to have 1 computer for the both of us so even if i thought AOEII was great,he would always bogart it from me XD) and i loved it: i still remember spamming the O CANADA cheat and just laser blasting my enemeys down. the farm boy one was also a great cheat.

"FANNYMAGNET"
bat shoutoutloud: No cooldown on shouts.
bat nothingtofear: Maxes all skills, gives you all vanila perks, etc. (Skeleton key, 1k Dragonsouls, lots of money)
bat makeeveryarrowcount: Gives you lots of arrows.
One should note than many of the "cheats" are incompatible with perk mods.
