Although it doesn't happen with the original mod, this patch changes the color of the heads of the patrons that this mod spawns. Though admittedly, my game is heavily modded and it could be a conflict with the Demoniac High Quality Glossy Skin texture I am using. ---Correction I mistakenly thought this patch caused the head color change. It turns out to be the Shiva NPC hair replacer mod. Apologies.
Go into the Bee and Barb in Riften or the Silver Blood Inn at Markarth and the game CTDs, but only at night-time. At daytime it works fine and transitions to nighttime fine as well. Is there anyway this can be fixed please? JK doesn't seem to be working on any of his mods anyway. So maybe an option for even less people? I'm not sure if that's the problem though. CTDs and freezing on loading screen at two specific taverns? Something's wrong with this mod.
Hmm, I haven't heard this issue from anyone else. Have you got any other population/sound mods installed? I seem to remember an incompatibility with those that adds sounds to the inns (I think this includes bard mods).
I had activated Less NPCs and NPCs at the same time, both LIAT NPC files. Very stupid of me. I am using a new installation now. All tavers work great but it seems like the new updates of LIAT with LIAT Less NPCs adds only two or three patrons to the Inn, sometimes spawning dead. Very weird. I have the strangest issues sometimes. Oh well. It's okay.
Funny that you mention bard mods. I never do an install without, Perseid's Inns and Taverns, as well as Mulakah' Bard Songs, whatever that famous mod was called. I forgot. lol. I always install those. Do those conflict?
For some reason I had only 1 patron in The Bannered Mare and Candlehearth Hall but in The Bee and Barb I had at least 5, maybe more. The "fix" for the grey faces doesn't seem to work either.
Here is the real fix: Rename the esp from this mod to LIAT - NPCs.esp before moving it into the data folder, then let it overwrite the original esp. This makes everything work as intended.
Option 1: First rename this esp as I described, then locate your MO mod directory(where it installs the mods). In that directory should be a folder called "LIAT - Lively Inns and Taverns" (if you didn't chance the name of the mod when installing). Just drop the esp in that folder and let it overwrite.
Option 2: Create an archive with winzip/winrar of your renamed esp. Install in MO after the original mod. Try to install with the same name and select merge when prompted for a cleaner setup.
Thanks for this suggestion. I renamed the new esp to LIAT as you suggested and renamed the old one to LIAT - NPCSOLD.esp so I could keep it as back up. No grey face bug
Option 1 works perfectly, for me. (I've got both mods enabled in MO's left pane.)
But the volume seems excessive for the number of people I see in the Bannered Mare. It's particularly strange because, in my case, the tavern is mostly populated by female NPCs, but I'm hearing mostly males. :-|
An .ini file that lets us set voice volume would be great!
Instead of adding to the skyrim folder I can just install from archive using mod organizer yeah?
Second question: Does LIAT use scripts? Asking because I thought deactivating scripted destroys your save? and thats one of the requirements when activating this patch. if so, is there a recommended uninstallation or can I safely uninstall from MO?
Update: So I added the esp to my skyrim data folder and it showed up in MO as "unmanaged" so I wasnt able to checkmark it to activate. I unchecked the main mod regardless, but it had no effect the people in whiterun are too much still.
I then installed from archive and checked less npcs, while keeping the main mod unchecked and then I got a message saying some content is missing ok to continue? I clicked yes and now theres no lively sounds at all. Though there are two patrons in the bannered mare. Would appreciate help
great idea for a mod and the less lively version is definitely better - but: grey face bug ruins it for me. I tried the folder rename fix and no difference. Too bad.

I'm just now about to try the gray face fix, so maybe it won't be as weird if that works.
