YESS THANK YOU!! I ported the old version of this without the hooves armor to SSE and then added it as a master to my race with hooves, and modified the esp so that the Hooves armoraddon footstep sounds are yours, And I got the improved horse step sounds mod you said you used. Now I hear hooves instead of friggin bare feet sounds on my race with hooves. My immersion just increased by 1000%. Thank you so much!!! Endorsed!

If you want hooves step set in SSE, I recommend to use "Armor Clothes and Weapon Framework" instead, this mod includes stepsets and also new keywords that can be useful for other features like custom animations, armor enchantments fix, etc...

It's a step sound set to be used with custom beast races which use hooves.

hey nice work on the sound implementation, I've got the same texture problem as down below unfortunately, textures are correctly targeted, but they are screwed up in game. what do you mean by changing BSLightingShaderPropertyShaderType to default ? it's not like I've got any idea about the default value changing it results in invisible mesh no matter what. besides, I need the hooves to get the skin tint if indeed it's what you said below (I play a minotaur with tinted red skin), no reason it should not work, hooves all display both correct textures and skin tint , except when called from your mod's esm.

could this be esm related ? since the same models with the same texture don't display correctly when called by your esm but show up as advertised when handled by simple hoove addon esps, that's why I'm asking.

Well if you need skin tint to be applied, then you can't set shader type to default, you have to set it to "skin tint", so, body tint will be applied to hooves too. However, system also try to overlay hooves textures with default body textures (feet from your body textures), unless you use a textureset. I can't do it because this is a generic mod for stepset that should work with any hooves meshes used and I can't guess which textures will use each user... so, this is mainly a modder resource. Anyway, adapting your race to use this mod isn't very difficult:

-If you custom race have hooves yet, make your race mod dependent of HoovesStepset.esm using CK or TES5edit, then go to armoraddon for you hooves and change stepset to FSTHoovesFootstepSet, save changes. If you race mod uses a esm file, you can try to merge both mods or create a new esp plugin to patch both mods.

-If your race doesn't have hooves, so you have to equip them from this mod, you can add a textureset to solve the textures issue: Open CK and load HoovesStepset.esm file, create a new textureset, then set all paths to your hooves textures. Go to hooves armoraddon (00_HoovesAA) and select your new textureset in Skin Texture (do it also for female if necessary). Now, save as new esp file and load this new plugin in your mod manager. If you don't want to create a new file, you can try to edit original file (you have to convert esm file to esp in order to edit in CK).

nah it's ok, I fixed it, i just changed from none to "hoove texture" in the ck on your hooves for male & female and they show up correctly with skintints.
I'm not making a custom race, I 'm making a "cursed preset" to roleplay my high elf character as having been cursed and transformed into a minotaur. tho a custom race would be cool.

I basically turned the skin red, pumped the SAM sliders up, scuplted the mouth mesh into big fangs, sized up TND's wearable cow horns, added an HDT cow tail, your mod for hooves and sounds, a few beasty animations and made a voiceset with diablo's grunt/attack sounds and growls from D2 as well as growls from druid bear form from D2.

I just wish the deefu texture was available as a racemenu overlay and for males, this would be the cherry on top.

There are some ways to do a character transformation:

-Changing race: useful if you want to change abilities, skills, etc... in addition to visual changes. But, you can have issues trying to restore original race features, and can break some quests that need to validate character race.

-Using a script to change features without race change (this is my favorite): in papyrus there are a lot of functions to change face parts, body, skills... (some of them need SKSE). In this mod I use a spell to change player appearance: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/66540
This is more complex, but you avoid issues related to races. See this video: https://dai.ly/x6n4nzy
In this example, I use a lesser power to trigger transformation, attached script adds some extra body parts and some abilities like flying ability.

-But if you only want a visual change, the simplest way is to equip a new body as if you were equipping an armor (merging head, body, extras... in an unique mesh), this can be useful with races which don't use armor like werewolf...

Hey! I have the mesh and sounds working, but the textures don't seem to apply in game no matter what I do. I opened both meshes in nifskope and replaced the textures, but it still refuses to work properly in game.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've been troubleshooting this for two days, but I have minimal nifskope experience and tutorials have been no help with it

Apparently, hooves textures have been overwrited with default body textures, this happens because they are considered body parts instead of armor pieces. You have to change BSLightingShaderPropertyShaderType to Default with Nifskope, probably it's set to Skin Tint, so game treat it as a body part and apply body tint and textures.

      Hi!

I'm having issues with the textures as well. I'm using the "Deer hooves and tail" mod from here on the nexus. I changed the texture path in Nifskope and even set the ShaderType to default, but in game it still has the weird skin texture wrapped around the hooves.

Do you have any further tip what can be done?

Ummm, be sure you have changed shader property in both meshes, or maybe have another wrong setting we are missing.

To hooves? Open your meshes with nifskope to see textures paths, and replace original textures or change paths to your custom textures directory.

I made it, but in game still no textures on it.
And they pass through the ground surface.
I've used same model of the hooves as you in the screen of this topic.

Ok, you have to add highheels effect to hooves, they are designed to increase character height when equipped like other shoes and boots mods. There are 2 ways: you can use HDT Highheels mod or use nioverride system.
I recommend nioverride system because you only have to add a new property to meshes, so you don't have to modify plugins to add scripts and magic effects, or create new ones with CK.
You have to open mesh with nifskope and add a new NiStringExtraData (right clik > Block > Insert > NiStringExtraData) and edit name = SDTA and String Data = [{"name":"NPC","pos":[0, 0, 6.0]}] (For hooves I'm using 6.0 is the height increase needed) Then save file (do it for both meshes and remember that nioverride needs Racemenu mod to work)

I can't remember, I think they was included in a creatures pack I found some time ago. I mixed some resources from several races mods to create a custom draenei race for my own use (still unfinished).

The Closest you can get to his custom race is the Kaleen race (Which I'm pretty sure he is using)

      http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8464/?

This was a "Draenei" themed race someone made back for Oblivion and then made a skyrim version ^^

Yes, horns, eyes and tail are from kaleen race, and hooves are from other site. All other parts and textures are from human races mods but I've used a blue skin tone.

If your race mod is an esp file you can add dependency to my esm: open your mod with CK and load the hooves esm too, open your race feet armoraddon and select hooves stepset in the list.
If your file is an esm you can create a new esp to patch it: load both files in CK, change stepset and save the new esp file.
And of course you need audio files from IHIS.
