-----NOTICE----- Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who has downloaded, tested, or otherwise supported my mods in any capacity. Knowing others are enjoying my work is one of the primary reasons I make mods.
However, I am sorry to say that my tenure in private modding is at an end. While I have great ideas and plans to improve or re-write every mod I currently have on the Nexus, not to mention the many new ideas I come up with every day, I cannot do everything. Like many of you I have a young family, a full time job, alongside many other real life commitments. It is a sad realisation that if I'm to continue to enjoy modding I must focus on one or two things at a time.
To this extent I have decided that any time I have to mod will be put into Beyond Skyrim. For any of you who don't know it is a project that is creating the entirety of Tamriel in the Fourth Era as a seamless extension of Skyrim. It is the most ambitious project ever undertaken by an Elder Scrolls modding group, and it's a vision I have dreamed of since I first took steps on Vvardenfell over ten years ago. If Beyond Skyrim sounds like a project you'd like to be a part of, or even follow you can find our website by clicking the picture below:
As always my work is open source, others are free to use my work as they see fit. If I've used assets from another author address them directly for permissions. Thank you all for a wonderful time as an author here on the Nexus, I look forward to seeing what other mods are made, and seeing Beyond Skyrim up here one day.
I expect you're not checking this anymore, but on the off chance you are, I would love to get some guidance from you on adding new spells to the mod. I'm pretty new to using CK, but I' love to give it a try. Thanks, and thank you for creating it in the first place!
I am still desperately trying to support this mod, however I'm snowed under at work pulling as much overtime as I can to catch up. The only modding I've managed to do in a month is about 30 minutes updating a script I'm working on for Beyond Skyrim and the odd moment to reply to messages (like this).
I wholly appreciate the frustration. I'm probably more frustrated than anyone. I really want to see this idea succeed as it's one I truly believe in. I am still planning on implementing custom textures for the books once I've got the hang of NifSkope. The lectern will take considerably more work, and Hyac is still diligently working on his end (see below).
Regarding patches, has anyone mentioned to the authors of other mods? They may have more free time at the moment than I have. I don't like having to ask others to do compatibility work, but at this point in time it may be the quickest way to see results given my real life situation.
Just out of interest, which spell mods are we looking at patching for first?
Honestly, I doubt T3nd0 will do a patch. Maybe the PaMa compatibility people will. But if I were you, I'd DEFINITELY do a PerMa version. It got like, 20,000 downloads the first day it was released and comes with 200 spells or so. So yeah - by far the one you want to focus on. Honestly, I'd bet we'd all be happy if you didn't even bother with patches for anything else.
Plus, if you make a PerMa patch, I would almost guarantee you see a rush of downloads for Arcane Library. With the popularity of that mod, how could you not? It's a win/win if you ask me.
Again - I love your mod. You ever want a hand, just let me know.
Edit: About T3nd0 patching. Clarification: I don't know the guy or anything, just assuming that with how busy he is with Perkus Maximus, he wouldn't have anything approaching time.
The logic in that is infallible. I've never personally been one for such drastic overhauls, but you're right; it will look good and draw in support. I'll get on it soon. Hopefully I can get it out in the next few weeks if I pool all my free time into it.
Thank you for the suggestion. It's invaluable advice.
Sorry mate. My manager at work has just quit throwing me into the position with only a year's experience in the trade. I'm afraid modding will not be possible at all for the foreseeable future due to my work load. Apologies.
Illusion: Seventeen spells total. Notes for 1 spell, no outlines as of yet. ~0% complete. Conjuration: Thirty-two spells total. Notes on seven spells, outlines for three spells. ~0% complete. Destruction: Twenty-nine spells total. Notes on 12 spells, outlines for three spells. ~0% complete. Restoration: Twenty-three spells total. Notes on 3 spells, outlines for one spell, two spells complete. ~8% complete. Alteration: Seventeen spells total. Notes on two spells, outlines for two spells, two spell complete. ~11% complete.
Combined Progress: 4 of 118 spells = ~3.3% complete. Still a long way to go.
08-Oct-2014: It's mid-term season, so my time is sadly less abundant than I'd like. My last midterm will take place on the 20th, so until then my progress will be limited. Apologies.
03-Nov-2014: I've made notable progress through the Alteration school that isn't (yet) reflected above. I've got penultimate drafts completed for all Novice and Apprentice level spells, and plan to give these a final once-over in midway through the week. When I'm content with their quality I'll send them off to Daiyus, who can incorporate them into the mod from there on whatever timetable he sees fit. I've also got both Master spells, a handful of Adept spells (Ironflesh, Transmute, and Waterbreathing), and one of the Expert spells (Ebonyflesh) roughly outlined. I'll update the above list once I've sent off my first batch of descriptions to Daiyus.

I'm sorry, my life has been swamped by work these last few weeks. I managed to write Kolb and the Dragon as a quick respite and then it all went crazy. They're still planned, and will be done, but I honestly cannot promise an ETA. Just as a bit of a confirmation, which packs are the most sort-after?
A suggestion for Hyacathusarullistad. When writing book, you might want to add (if possible) some pictures in them. Like runes or summoning circles. It would spice up the book and give the feel that magic is a complicated subject to study about. For inspiration you could use Oghma Infinium or Mysterium Xarxes, or a lot of pictures from our own, real world, witchcraft and alchemy history. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Oghma_Infinium_(Skyrim) http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Mysterium_Xarxes
Definitely something that's crossed my mind. I've decided though, and I imagine Daiyus agrees, that getting the raw content published is more important than browsing for, creating, and/or fiddling with image files.
Definitely. Adding images is certainly cool, and certainly something to strive for, but when there's other things that need doing it has to take a back seat; and that doesn't just mean regarding this mod, it's my entire modding list, and life.
I've still got to learn how to retexture to get the covers working, and learn to model so the Scribes Lecterns actually stand up to the other crafting stations with regards to quality, plus everything else I've got going on: I've almost finished a character creation mod that reintroduces birthsigns, classes, oldschool racial abilities, etc all with options as to how much the player wants to use. I've also got my crossbow mod to update (haven't touched it in months). I've also promised to work with Beyond Skyrim with a few different ideas. Plus I have young family and like everyone a full time job.
As you can tell, I'm very busy. I guess what I'm trying to say is that your ideas are good, and I want to include them, but please don't be offended if it's not my top priority right now.
Quite a brilliant idea! I have a hard time excusing myself every time I manipulate my game with console commands. But what you've got going here isn't cheating at all! Perfect for someone like me who rarely uses spells and dislikes menu clutter. I'll be getting rid of almost everything I picked up at the college, aside from my Arch-Mage status and The Staff of Magnus. How nice to be able to choose! Now if you could only make a notebook that would remove any/all the broken side quests left listed in my miscellaneous section... LOL
I'm almost positive I once used a mod that removed all such quests from your journal upon visiting an object placed in the Drunken Huntsman... it's been ages since I've used it, as I've had The Choice is Yours for almost as long as I can remember now, but it may have even been by the same author.
EDIT: It's not the mod I was talking about, but this mod here might be of use to you.
Scribes Lecterns have now been added to the Jarl's Palaces and Longhouses. Look for them near other crafting stations. Hopefully that will make it easier to access Spell Book creation across Skyrim. I'll try and put one in the College of Winterhold next, but I'll need to do some research before placing as I've already been told about a popular overhauling mod that will conflict if I don't get it right.
Not yet. It's certainly a feature that could be added. I don't know what the mist balanced way of doing this would be. I'll have to think about it. Thank you for the idea!
Hey, great idea and implementation! I second the scribe scrolls idea. I've been using this mod called Scrollcraft (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20583). It's requirements are the best I've found from the various scroll crafting mods (apprentice perk for the magic school of the scroll) and know the spell, I would add to the requirements that you must have a spellbook with the spells written and also the silver dust for the special magical writting.
That sounds fairly reasonable. There's a spare crafting category so I could use that to put scrolls in. I'll look into it once I've got my current objectives finished, or at least have a lectern everywhere that needs one.
Just popping in with a post of my own re: the spell book contents themselves. I'm making slow but steady progress through the vanilla spells, though I only have a single spell - Oakflesh - entirely completed. You can get a feel for the kind of descriptions I'm writing in the quote below.
I'm going to work my way through the different branches of magic within each school before moving on to the next. So for example, I'm going to finish the mage armour spells before progressing to the rest of the Alteration tree; and I may decide to jump from school to school every now and then as well - I have a few ideas for the fire and frost spell lines from Destruction as well as the Atronach spells from Conjuration.
As it is now, this is my current progress:
Illusion: Notes for 1 spell, no outlines as of yet. ~0% complete. Conjuration: Notes on seven spells, outlines for three spells. ~0% complete. Destruction: Notes on 12 spells, outlines for three spells. ~0% complete. Restoration: Notes on 3 spells, outlines for one spell, one spell complete. ~4% complete. Alteration: Notes on two spells spells, outlines for four spells, one spell complete. ~6% complete.
Combined Progress: ~1.5% - Still a long way to go.
As for modded spells, I admit I have little experience with most spell packs or magic overhauls on the Nexus, and 0 experience with anything on the Steam Doesn'tWorkshop. I'm open to creating the text for whatever mods for which Daiyus wants to include compatibility, but that's entirely his call.
Thanks for the update. Oakflesh has been put into the current build, however the formatting is a little off still, so I need to work on that. Regarding other Spell mods, I've had specific requests in Spell Management System for at least Apocolypse and Phendrix. Where I go from there I don't know. Hopefully by writing one or two plugins I can then create a guide for anyone else who wants to make a particular spell mod compatible. I'm not usually a big fan of writing compatibility patches, especially for mods I don't use, purely because time is in very short supply for me, and my own ideas take up more than I get. Still, I don't mind doing these two at this time. No promises on ETA's though.
I saw the screenshots after posting, and edited my post accordingly. XP Though incidentally, the version I've posted here actually has a touch more polish to it than the one I PM'd you the other day - re-reading it a few days after the fact I noticed a handful of awkward or lacklustre sentences and such that I've cleaned up a bit. I'll include this polished version in the descriptions I send you for the rest of the mage armour spells.
Hey fellas - if you want another guy on writing the texts, I'd be happy to lend a hand. I'm an author working on my 3rd novel, so my skills are pretty sharp.
I think I'm going to have to make this clearer in the sticky. No, currently spells from other mods are not supported. Plugins will need to be made to support spells from other mods. I'll do a few major ones, but a guide will be written so that users can easily add support for other mods.
