About this mod

Upgrade your quest rewards to their best version.

Permissions and credits
Some of the rewards you obtain for completing quests are available in a number of versions. The version you get depends on your character's level at the time you finish the quest. But as your character advances and increases in level, these items do not, quickly becoming obsolete.

This mod offers you a way to fix that; find an Altar of Ascension, and use it to upgrade your equipment. The altar works by checking if you are carrying/holding/wearing any leveled quest rewards, checking your current level, and, if you meet the requirements, swapping your item for the next one in its leveled list.

Upgrading Your Equipment:

The Altar of Ascension only shows "recipes" for leveled quest rewards, and only if they are in your inventory. If you get an empty menu it means that you have no upgradable items, your level is too low, or all your items are at their highest level already. If you repeatedly get the same item in the menu, it means that you can upgrade it further - keep going until you get the best version.

To upgrade each item you will need some crafting materials. Where applicable, these will be the same materials you would use to temper the object. For equipment that cannot be tempered, the requirements are based on the item's material or appearance.

Altars of Ascension can be found in these locations:

- In Farengar Secret-Fire's study in Dragonsreach, Whiterun.
- At the College of Winterhold, in the Hall of the Elements.
- In Understone Keep in Markarth, near the doors to Nchuand-Zel.

Upgradable Items:

The altar upgrades the following quest rewards:

- Chillrend
- Dragonbane
- The Gauldur Blackbow
- The Gauldur Blackblade
- The Pale Blade
- The Nightingale Blade
- The Nightingale Bow
- Nightingale Armor (Hood, Cuirass, Boots and Gloves)
- The Shield of Solitude
- The Amulet of Articulation
- The Mage's Circlet

If you have the Dragonborn DLC, the altar also upgrades:

- Miraak's Sword
- Miraak's Staff
- Miraak's Mask (both heavy and light versions)
- Miraak's Robes

This mod does not change the items themselves, or the way by which you obtain them. It does not use any scripts or require any additional files.

Installation:

Download the main file and extract it to your Data folder. You will have two esp files. If you have the Dragonborn DLC installed, use the Dragonborn Version. If you don't have Dragonborn, use the Base Game Version. Do not use both esps.

Optional Files:

Quest Reward Ascension - No Material Requirements allows you to upgrade items without the need for additional crafting materials.

Quest Reward Ascension - Soul Gem Requirements makes the upgrade process consume crafting materials and soul gems. The gems must be filled to their maximum capacity, i.e. grand soul gems containing grand souls, greater soul gems containg greater souls, and so on.

QRA - Dragon Enchanting Tables replaces the Altar of Ascension meshes with RefurbMadness' Cherrywood Dragon Enchanting Table.

QRA - Celtick Enchanting Tables replaces the Altar of Ascension meshes with Autan Waspeez's Celtick Enchanting Table.

Acknowledgments:

My thanks go to:
- RefurbMadness for the "Cherrywood Dragon Enchanting Table" model.
Autan Waspeez for the "Celtick Enchanting Table" model.
