would it be at all possible to make a 2k version? I understand this version is currently for performance, which in fact runs very nice, but 2k would be great for people who have the systems to handle it.

The reason I ask is that I really like your work but when comparing your textures in the creation kit they are quiet pixelated, even the HD DLC has better quality textures.

Once again this is just a request if possible, and I look forward to seeing more work from you

      Thanks for the support!

To answer your question, it really had nothing to do with performance. I have a beast of a gaming rig that can handle anything I throw at it. Quite honestly I don't know how to do what you request. The textures I used were largely extracted right out of my own game files and then tweaked using Gimp. Therefore, they are the resolution that they are because they came with the game that way. I know it is possible to make a higher resolution image into one of lower quality, but I don't think the process is reversible. I would have to make a whole new image, and start with a 2k quality or higher. At least I think that's the way it works. And that's where my skill ends. I don't know how to make my own textures from scratch, just how to tweak them. If somebody out there made 2k textures for these animals, then I could re-color and tweak them just like I did with the textures in this mod. Of course, I would then need their permission to modify and re-distribute them after I was done editing them.

So yeah, I would be happy to provide 2k textures if I could, but alas I haven't the knowledge required. Of course, I have seen some textures that may have been higher resolution, but to me were worse than vanilla textures because they weren't realistic, and this mod is mostly about the animals having real and proper coloration with matching pelts anyway. There is definitely more work on them planned (snow wolf and snow fox foot pads, bear pelt color switch, red wolves re-colored for the loading screen.) but as I state on the main page, I just graduated college and am vacationing and celebrating for a while, and won't be doing any more for a few weeks. Thanks again for the support, and if somehow I get hold of 2k textures that I am allowed to modify and distribute then I will!

Congrats on graduating! And I hope you enjoy your vacation. Question tho. Did you use the textures from vanilla or the HD DLC? Because the HD DLC provides 2k textures that you can work with.

I have it installed, but I don't know which objects are covered in the HD DLC and which aren't. Next chance I get, I'll extract their .esp files and see if there are textures for those creatures and pelts in them. I don't think so, but it's worth a look. Thanks for the idea!

Come to think of it; have you thought about doing something for the red wolves and their pelts in Skyrim? The reddish default textures now really don't look like realistic representatives of the Canis rufus species... and this sadly didn't change much with Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack as well.

Actually, yes. I saw one in a loading screen today, and thought I needed to take care of that. I don't think they ever actually spawn in-game, but if I replaced their texture with the one I already use for the normal wolves, that should take care of it. The snow bear is coming along nicely. I have the front and rear foot pads done, and now I need to do the nose and mouth. Depending on my college and work schedule I might get it done and released by tomorrow night, with the optional yellowing.

My REAL problem right now is that since I accidentally deleted my old mod, I no longer can see the post from the person that answered my question as to where the bear pelt textures are located in extracted files. I can't find them, and I need to switch them, because as of patch 1.9 they are backwards (the dark brown bear has the light brown pelt and vice-versa.). I know the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" fixes this, but I want it to be in this mod for people who don't use or want to use that.

And here I was wondering as to why the original file suddenly disappeared from my tracker list. >_<
Anyay, glad to see that you were able to tune down their texture size. And I can't wait to see those optional polar bear retextures you're working on!

Yeah, sorry about that. I accidentally deleted my file yesterday when I went to upload the smaller textures, so I had to do a whole new upload. I should have an update in the next few days, but I'm so busy with work and school that's the best I can do. I'm on lunch break right now, actually. Only time I had to check on the comments.

I already have a good wolf/cat replacer, but I'm definitely tracking for more bear stuff cause I like how these look and my bears are still very sad lol

    Anyway nice work, very shiny

Thank you! And yes, bears are going to get some work. Specifically, the ice bear is going to get darkened foot pads and a darkened nose. Also, I believe the two bear types have the wrong colored pelts, and I plan on fixing that. Sadly, I have a life that requires me to be interning from 8am Eastern standard till 4:30pm most week days along with nearing college graduation, so I have very little time at the moment. It will be done soon though.

Yeah... That's because it's a TEXTURE replacer, not a mesh replacer

Haha, yeah I can only do so much. I do plan on doing a little more work on the bears soon though.

Thank you! I will be doing a little more work on the snow bear and other bears some time in the next few days, so check back for a better version later.
