Hi love the mod, I’ve tested this on SE and created a version that uses the newer boat meshes as well as using Chesko’s Campfire mod to implement the crafting with the resourcefulness spell. Which now means it’s easier to move as well as to pick up and place in your inventory. Would you be interested in releasing that version or grant permission to upload?
Is there a way to apply the physics from this mod to the already spawned static rowboats arround skyrim? Really want to be able to just push a boat into the water and ride it. Also the static rowboats break my immersion.
Any idea what one can change in NPC to make it so they dont sink the boat (so i can ferry them over). I tried setav mass 0 (or -300) but that does nothing.
I love this too much, so please make this in Creation Club with appropriate rowing animations. The character can sit down and row any boat in the world. Followers and pet followers can also get on the boat. You can also transition world spaces on boats, if possible. You can also build boats by asking for wood from the lumber mill, or if the owner is death, chop some yourself. This is what improvements I would like to see in this and thus am happy to pay for it.
I meant between interior world spaces that have boats inside and the rest of Skyrim or other world space. So basically take the boat through load doors.
Well, technically that's possible with some workarounds"
That is good to hear, but would you still be manning the boat when appearing in the new world space.
"> You can also build boats by asking for wood from the lumber mill
You know you can build boats at lumber mill already?"
I know that, but I want to see a transaction between the owner of the wood mill and yourself when getting the wood. Something like Hearhtfires purchesing wood, first you have to talk to the owners and then they may let you cut your own wood if they like you. That is just personal preference, not as important.
"> Followers and pet followers can also get on the boat
They won't be visible in that case."
I was hoping that they can sit across you when rowing the boat.
> That is good to hear, but would you still be manning the boat when appearing in the new world space.
No. The closest possible thing - the boat will be teleported to you once you touch the water in a new worldspace.
> I was hoping that they can sit across you when rowing the boat
They can be attached to the object, but there is no boat sitting animation and the boat is not a furniture, so I really don't think they can sit on it properly. All my previous attempts failed. I can try to glitch the engine to attach a follower into an invisible furniture and then assign them to a dynamic object of the boat right away. Pretty sure it will fail as well.
I"ve heard this was already done in the W.A.T.E.R. mod, but i not only saw that in there, i also like the additional details this mod has.
Either way, something flashed in my mind. You know the water surface clipping through the bottom of the boat, as if the boat was sinking and full of water itself? Well, I thought of something to get rid of that. It might not be easy tho.
Basically, an alpha plane over the boat's surface. Maybe two. You know how going behind waterfalls would hide your hair and anything with transparency? Well, i believe this bug can be used here for better purposes. If the transparency glitch is applied on the boat's surface, it'd stay "dry".
Hope that makes sense, sorry if it can't be done due to internal nif needs or if it has already been done - i've been away from playing and modding skyrim for months already.
Animated row boats from "WATER" is NOT the same thing as "Realistic Functional Boats". The WATER mod doesn't provide the ability to control the boat.
RFB is the only mod at this moment that provides boats fully controlled by the physics engine. It's not a predefined animation.
> It might not be easy tho. Yeah. Like rewriting the game engine...
> Basically, an alpha plane over the boat's surface You need to find a way to filter just the water mesh, not the other geometry. I'm busy with other things right now, so I can't check if it will work or not. Thanks anyway.
Well, thing is, i never checked WATER itself, a friend told me about it - it sounded strange, like something was off. You just cleared it up for me, but he probably won't ever admit it :p
The water isn't clipping its actually coming right through between the planks. The root of the problem seems to be that the "boat" is actually a raft as far as the game is concerned. Waves slapping against the hull come right through the gaps between the planks. What is needed is for the planks to seal each other off. A better model for boats would be what is know as Ship Lapped where the planks overlap each other instead of being placed side by side.
I'll endorse this mod for the heroic achievement in manipulating the game physics, although for me its not usable except on warm sunny days as I am also using Frostfall.

Sorry. What do you mean by that? Are you talking about the Solstheim-Skyrim travel?

Emmm, no. Trust me, the engine is not that advanced, lol
