      It's been awhile since I used it but I recall using the flame thrall setup in the CK just renaming ID and making all the necessary changes to create the right creature and effects. So I am 99% sure it is has no duration and will only need to be re-summoned if killed or dismissed.

      Unfortunately there are no perks that affect familiars only atronachs and undead. That's the reason I set his level cap at 50, has higher hp then other summons and has the unarmed perk. The only perk he should be affected by is the reduced mp cost with master conjuration skill.
