hey can I make a small request.. it has to do with the "shell bug helmet" I use the vanilla-ish retexture and wish that helmet matched.. sure others would want roach version too

I just tested out the roach version of the falmer shield and regular armor, and they look really good! Nice work, spookymunky!

Out of curiosity, is everyone happy with the newer versions I released ?.. The 0.2 versions were quite a colour jump from the earlier blue-ish and red-ish version and I never stopped to ask if people thought I was going in the right direction . I don't mind going for additional optional files if anyone misses the old style but wants a fresher version. This is an armor set I haven't worn for more than 10mins with the vanilla textures so I never really built up an idea of what I'd like to change, just knew it had to be changed

Tried the blue version and the new "roach" version today. The blue was definitely a step up from the game's original heavy falmer colors, but the "roach" version was even better than the blue. I, for one, think you've gone in the right direction. Thanks for your work.

Couple of quick questions/concerns: I noticed that the falmer shield doesn't yet come in "roach" color, which I thought was odd, since all the weapons do.
Also, the inventory pictures of the weapons aren't showing the new color, either. Maybe I didn't install the mod correctly, or have a conflict with another mod. Or maybe that's just the way the mod is, right now. At any rate, I think it would be excellent to have a matching shield and to apply the new color to the inventory pictures, if you've got time and don't mind giving it a try.

I don't know whether or not you have plans to expand your new colors to the game's other falmer armors (hardened set and regular falmer armor), but that would be awesome if you did. Regardless, thanks again for the work you've done on this mod.

for some reason when I made this I couldn't find the shield / normal armor etc textures if I remember right, sigh at past me ! . Think I have them now, just trying to remember how to use the photoshop actions I made for this particular mod hehe. hopefully will have something soon.

The inventory pics not being the same I'm unsure how to fix, just loading up skyrim to see if it's the same here..

Edit: the falmer heavy stuff shows up with the right textures in my inventory.. cannot think on why it would be different for you really.. hmmm, it definitely sounds familiar though, like might have noticed it on one of my other mods. Usually the game just uses the same textures from the object for the inventory, is just a different mesh (saves me a lot of work hehe).. could you have a mod that might change falmor heavy meshes and their the inventory mesh ?.

Argh, having a hard time getting the red variant to match, lol. I must be missing a step somewhere. One of the reasons I justify spending so much time in photoshop on these edits is to try and take my 2d workflow up to a similar level as working in 3d has forced me to over the years.. it's very much a work in progress though, and these earlier mods just make me want to go back in time and slap the slightly younger me

Edit : ooh!, just remembered I might have used the actions / scripts from the weapons to make the 0.2 versions of this ! haha

      Edit2 : Red/roach still doesn't match, sonofa

Wow! You responded super fast! Thanks for your promptness As far as I know, I don't have any other mods that alter any of the falmer equipment. Then again, I've installed and uninstalled so many mods over the past couple of years that it's entirely possible something in my game files or save files has gone a bit wonky. I appreciate you looking into the issues I mentioned - the shield, the inventory colors, etc. I'd love to be able to see those problems resolved, but it's totally cool if you can't immediately find a solution. I'm always impressed and refreshed simply to find a mod author who responds quickly and is willing to spend time investigating problems or ideas raised by mod users. So many mod creators seem to be too busy, too unconcerned, or too annoyed by all the truly stupid posts (the rants, the unreasonable requests, the repeated questions, etc.) to offer much feedback. So thanks again for your response

Stop, you're making me blush . For the 0.2 version of this mod I think I must have manually added some post-action edits that I didn't record (part of the bad workflow things I am trying to eliminate by working on these mods hehe) so annoyingly it isn't an instant one click process the way my mods should be (from my end), will hopefully release something I am happy with sometime tonight or tomorrow though .

Part of the reason behind me being so quick to jump on this is I have been meaning to to revisit this set for a long time, lol. my character eventually found some falmer bracers and it has been bugging me that they aren't the same. That and I have kind of gotten sick of even my roach set and the weapons were just.. bad . My thoughts for now is getting the rest of the falmer gear to look the same as 0.2, then go back to working on the dawnguard armor set (spoiler!), and perhaps coming back and starting the falmer stuff from scratch.. no promises though since I have the attention span of a 2 yr old

Thanks for brining this back to the front of my brains to do list, comments good or bad always brighten my day

Roach versions of the falmer armor and shield should be up now.. decided to have a quick go at the chaurus while I was at it as well hehe. Will get round to doing vanilla-ish versions sometime .

I honestly have no idea why it was hidden, assume it was an accident since I usually add some form of message. Thanks for letting me know

not trying to be all pushy and sh!t but so they match.. i tried to red but i really like the vanilla-ish version and the original non dlc armor looks better for females and i like your work

You have me slightly confused and intrigued.. I was unaware that there was a non dlc version ?, hmm.....

Edit:.. yeah I'm lost, not sure what I should be looking for... the only files my armor texture is overwriting according to Mod Organizer are from dawnguard and high res texture pack 01..

Edit2: This is also the only falmer set I have found in game.. hmm, maybe the vanilla mesh has a different texture location ? Sorry, I'm still learning my way around all the extracted folders I have.. gonna keep looking

yeh the is gonna sound odd... the weapoms and heavy dlc are your BA retexture.. and i "get this.. re ran a batch patch build with wyre bash for a lvl list change" and all falmer armor textures are good to go except the shield.. i have ran into that b4 with eth.elv.overh. and face gen data.. never an armor/weapon retexture.. any way thanks for looking into the issue and double thanx for retexture to bring soemthing that truly fits into the game..

    Outstanding work!

My lore-friendly side yells that it is not the color of the chaurus carapace, which the armor is made of.

But my beauty lover side is yelling, forget about lore-friendliness and just grab it!

    Thank you!

PS: Here is hoping that standalone version with both files comes soon!

My lore friendly side is screaming at me also brother.. once I figure out what I actually want the armour to look like I might run the same photoshop actions on the chaurus's too hehe, would be slightly lore friendly ?.. in the way that I have edited the lore to make it fit .

Standalone I have no idea how to make sadly, and with a brain so full of things I want to change now that I am basking in my first ever skyrim main quest completion run through.. I'm not sure I want to take the time out to learn . I've been playing it since release, this is first time I have had a playthrough that hasnt ended up in ctd hell hehe.. never actually achieved that with oblivion . Not that these are my first edits, I'm running low on textures left to edit it seems, vanilla all thats left in some places.

If anyone wants to be my modding sidekick though send me a pm

I'm just imagining a dye process =P Makes up for any retexture being potentially lore unfriendly xD I mean this one's just too good to not use, great work Spookymunky !

Any chance this could become a collection? So we can have all three versions =P, pwetty pwease? If not, guess i'll get a coin out and let fate decide on the color xP

Edit: nvm my question about a collection; out of shear enthousiasm to try out the mod, i skipped out of the part saying you don't know how to make it standalone >< So yeah, silly me.

You had me wondering .. If I thought I could do it in a couple hours and not break everyone's game, I'd be working on standalones for my texture edits.. like hmm, for my dark archmage robes would have to be crafted with charcoal + archmage robes + I dunno, ink hehe. As a production artist that should really be spending his time on learning maya now that autodesk has killed off XSI tho, hmm. I should really be doing some learning instead of skyrim hehe. Photoshop work though, Iv been using ps since version 3 that ran on Windows 3.1.. still, every single time I use it I learn something.. I must be really damn slow

I think I know how to make it standalone.

Give me a few days until my next day off work and I will see what I can do.

Weekend, probably, if there is no emergency at work that requires me there.

which weapon ?.. I did try giving Gorr more manly weapons.. all the insanely overpowered daedric two handers etc my character couldn't even lift.. he wanted none of it !... leave a man alone in a bar for a few months wearing pink armour..

If you have a particular weapon in mind that the vanilla texture work is almost there but needs a little push, please lemme know

oh, those !.. .. honestly for the life of me I couldn't find a single falmer weapon in any of my stashes.. But to be fair, even though my character is a female... a pinky purple bow ???... with these shoes ?

hmmm... not sure if I should mention that I am so completely going to make a quest out of this.. epic hunt for more items that I can pick up and find the id of n stuff.....

Found some falmer gear , by luck it is in a place I think I needed to go back to for a newer quest but the marker seems to have become broken.. just floats around really, made it hard to find.

ooh, remembered / re-figured out how to adjust shader flags in nifSkope

edit : well, I say remembered or figured it out.. was more clicking on anything and everything till I saw shader

edit2 : huh, ok now I am confused. I was hoping the unofficial dawnguard patch would have a handy helmet mesh with special flags I could copy.. I got excited when I saw a FalmerHeavy folder but it's only what seems to be the upper body armour somewhat randomly

edit3 : after CTDs I can rule out the ShaderFlags2 SLSF2_Glow_Map, damnit.. was most obvious attribute when trying to figure out what is causing a texture to kinda glow
