Hi there! It worked as intended before i picked some specific perk from Archery (Marksman) tree, then it reversed back to default speed! I think its either " Draw bow 30% faster" perk or the one, that makes my PC move faster when bow is drawn!...
'Usually a normal crossbow would need your entire strength to pull the string back to the notch, that's a normal crossbow. But the one in Skyrim is quite small so the vanilla speed is suitable for me. I think 2.3x speed is way too fast.
Crossbows were very slow to fire. The advantage was that it did not take nearly as much training (as compared to a longbow) to learn to use well and were very suitable to siege work or fixed defenses (where the shooter could duck behind cover while reloading).
The better changes to crossbows IMO would be to substantially increase the damage but then not have archery skill influence the damage - this would make them a feared weapon in the hands of low-medium skilled users (guards, soldiers, bandits, etc.). Also the reloading should be a separate animation so the shooter could fire, duck for cover, reload slowly and then emerge from cover to fire the loaded weapon.
Requiem gives the crossbows a much slower animation and makes them do huge amounts of damage even at low levels, combine this with the crossbow seperate reload animation mod and you should have what you're looking for.
I've been wondering that, myself. It's not as easy as cocking a Nerf gun. In many ways, it's actually much more difficult than drawing a regular bow. The cocking handle would help, but it would only provide so much leverage, given how short it is.
In regards to the brief mod description: the speed at which a person with "normal muscle development" cocks a crossbow would depend largely on the strength of the crossbow's limbs, and not just the strength of the archer's limbs. After all, the limbs are made of steel and appear to be relatively thick.
I've no problem with a mod that makes the player cock crossbows faster, but insinuating that anyone (in-game or IRL) should be able to do better than the vanilla cocking animation is to assume that everyone has arms like Mark McGuire.
Hey - apologies for asking this here, but this is the best way to contact you!
Could you make a mod that when you aim a crossbow, it moves further left so the bolt actually lines up centre screen with the tip pointing at the crosshairs?
This would allow you to AIM crossbow shots looking along the bolt tip as a sight in normal first person camera.
It seems simple for someone who knows how to mod (just push the weapon further left) and I guarantee would be a highly endorsed killer mod!

Playability, I can understand, but this mod would only benefit immersion to people who are *gloriously* blissfully ignorant to actual crossbows.
