It's been a few years but I felt like mentioning it, when using this mod Azura's star uses the spanish name.

Will you be updating this for the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch by Unofficial Patch Project Team ?

No update needed. I have uploaded an all-in-one file, however, which requires USLEEP.

Just finished rebuilding my computer after my PSU fried my CPU and motherboard. So, I'm also rebuilding Skyrim.
I really like what you've done here. I also appreciate the clarity of why most sorting mods aren't compatible with mods that may change things. That' helps a lot. Your mod sounds really simple and pretty easy to use, as well as being the most compatible with other mods (ie: shouldn't cause CTD's etc...). For that reason alone, I will likely use your mod if I use a sorting mod (which I'd like to).

I'm very interested in the idea of using TES5Edit to copy and paste names from you mod, into other mods that might change items that you've already renamed. I've yet to to any mod creating myself, and my experience with TES5Edit is limited to cleaning mods I've downloaded (where appropriate). So, I was wondering if you could direct me to instructions on how to do the renaming. Like, how do you open two mods at the same time for the copy and paste process?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

      Hi!

Using TES5Edit for this purpose is really easy. First you have to make sure all the appropriate mods are installed and activated. Then just follow these steps:

      1) Open TES5Edit.
      2) Make sure whichever mods you wish to edit are checked.
      3) Look for my mod in the left-hand list ( "KRB - Fabulous Sorting.esp" ) and open it so you can see all the items that I edit.
      4) Click any that are red. Red means a change made by this mod is being overwritten by a mod loaded later in your load order. That's okay, though.
      5) Look for the edited name, and drag and drop the edited name onto the later mod (or if you wish, make an entirely new esp that carries over all changes). If it's done right, it should no longer be red, but yellow. Yellow simply means there has been a change to this item.

      Hope that helps.

Zhell, seeing as you're the most recent person on the Nexus to go about the arduous process of renaming stuff, let me throw out a quick tip: use scripts to do it. Seeing as how there's thousands upon thousands of things to touch, why not get with someone who knows a bit of scripting to help? The scripts will do all the work for you. Do it based on keywords so that any mod-added item with that same keyword will be adjusted to match. Probably won't work PERFECTLY, but would do a very good job of hitting most everything correctly.
Honestly I don't know why no one has tried to do this already. Have the script run only once and voila.

How could an in-game script modify the names of static game resources from within the game, on the fly? Would this change be made permanently in the mods themselves, or only temporarily for the current game session and require reapplication with every new session? (Ugh!) I'm not a fully fledged modder yet but I'm learning, and what little I've learned leaves me skeptical that this could work. Maybe that is why you've received no other replies?

I trust myself more than I trust a script. Also, I have no experience at all with scripts, so there's that. Besides, the mod is pretty much done at this point unless people come with suggestions or feedback so there's not much more work to be done other than keeping it up to date with the unofficial patches.

Choose only one of the main files.
"1.9" if you want spells with prefixes.
"1.9 - spells untouched version" if you dislike the renaming of spells like I do.
"1.9a - PerMa version" if you have Perkus Maximus.

Note: The optional files (Bulk Hearthfire Crafting and Bulk Ore Smelting) do not require the main file and can be used separately.

I just went and renamed a few things myself, so i'm installing this mod to save myself some work.

For inexperienced mod users, yes, this may change only names, but changing a name changes the whole record, so it's theoretically incompatoble with mods that change anything else - like, say, stat changes from Weapons and Armor Fixes or Clothing and Clutter fixes (both of which are in STEP).To avoid losing such changes, make sure that this mod loads just after the USKP, and *BEFORE* all other mods.

However, using BASH, you *can* get the names from this mod in your game, even if another mod changes the stats of an object. To do that, tag this mod as 'NAMES' (down in the lower right corner window in BASH).Then, when building your bashed patch, make sure that this mod is checked under the 'Import Names' heading. (Also note that you do not have to even check this mod as part of your load order, since all you want is the names.) This will make BASH import the names from this mod into you bashed patch, while it still gets the stats from elsewhere. The only caveat is that other mods probably also have the 'Import Names' flag set, and if they load later, the names from those mods will take precedence.

    Hope this helps!

This is all true, thanks for clarifying.
I generally advise to load my mod very early since it is very non-essential. Bash works wonders if you can't live without, and it's what I use, too (or you can just make a new .esp file using TES5Edit and drag and drop all the names, but believe me, that would take time).

Thanks for trying out my mod, I'm glad I could save you some time, and as always, let me know if you have an idea for a future update.

Any chance of doing arrows? I like Enhanced Better Sorting but if this includes compatibility for Immersive Weapons/Armors and aMidianBorn Book of Silence Content Addon (the three most popular addition mods) then I'd be willing to make the switch.

Well I'd have to learn how to do compatibility patches.
I have actually thought about arrows, because they were one of my major peeves from when I played an archer. Until I do that, or decide to do that, I can recommend changing the names yourself using TES5Edit. It's quite easy.

this is..actually really good?! it just renames things so it shouldn't be incompatible with some other mods right?

I'm afraid not. My mod changes the names of items, and adds the changes made by USKP, so the unofficial patches definitely do not conflict. However, if, say, a mod 'A' came along and decided that a Soul Gem should weigh less, and mod 'A' is loaded before this mod, then my mod will overwrite that change made by mod 'A'. That's why I recommend putting this, and any other sorting mod, high up in your load order. Then let other mods that change the items further overwrite by having them later in the load order.
If you find a conflict, you can of course load the two mods up with TES5Edit and change some values yourself.

Small note: I point out again that I am no expert at modding, so my advice comes with no guarantee that I am right about anything, but this is how I have found it works.

Does this include just clutter, or does it (or will it) include equipment, books, ingredients, food/drinks, and spells as well? And are you planning to rename some of the items from the popular mods as well?

Only things included in the description on the file's front page are renamed.

As for equipment, I probably won't go there, since so many mods add new weapons and armor that any work I try to do on it would be a waste of time.

Books I likely won't touch either. This is because books and journals are in a tab of their own, making them easy to find as is. Also because other mods exist that already do this - some of which are compatible with Book Covers Skyrim, which means I really need not.

Ingredients are the same deal; they have a tab of their own where they are easy to find. What did you have in mind, though?

Foods, drinks, and spells I might have a look at. How would you prefer them sorted?
