Somehow I feel like i'm the one who always finds the exceptions. There's a big line of text saying, "There are NO mods left that still use SPIKE.esm", and upon downloading a few some mods for a new install, I come across the one left that requires it for skyrim to start. Thank you for keeping this file available!
The mod was SkyJubs Invisible Helmets(https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18250) which says it has no dependencies, but one of the .esp files the autoinstaller generates when selecting the immersive armors patch, is 'SJs_InvHelms_Eng_Plugin_MODA_IA6_A.esp' which still requires SPIKE.esm. As soon I installed the SPIKE.esm from here, skyrim loaded without a problem. Thank you.
Skyrim was working perfectly fine for the last month until yesterday when it started crashing at the Bethesda logo. I spent hours trying to fix the crash thinking VorpX was the culprit. i hadn't added any mods recently so didn't even consider it was an issue with mods.
Well the weirdest thing is.. i have had Skyrim installed for 1 ½ year (aprox 1200 hrs played) and played it much both vanilla and later on with mods. Have used both BOSS earlier and switched to LOOT sometime during winter/spring. And never have i got the error messaga about SPIKE.ESM is missing. Then last week i made a total reinstall of my computer and obviously also had to reinstall Skyrim and NMM and all of the things around it. And suddenly this error message shows up. I Stood flabbergasted as The SKyJubs invisible helmets has worked just fine the last year or so i've had it installed. And now i read that it shouldn't be necessary any more as of 2014 or earlier... At least i'm happy i got the brilliant idea to search for SPIKE on Nexus., so even if i shouldn't be needing spike i'll try it out, as it claims it won't harm the installation...... i hope. Thanx for putting this up . / Slaintë
Fully appreciated! Thanks for the comment, 'cause they help as database for future gamers and modders about this load order issues. Try to see about any patch that is not updated a while ago. They use to be the silly problem.
I was so confused to what the hell is SPIKE.esm and i just googled and this showed up
Endorsed!
1 question though, will this cause any bugs or conflicts? because i saw your'e comment and you said that this isn't needed anymore so i'm kinda curious if it will do anything.
The spike.esm is a file that mods like Immersive armors, Immersive weapons and guard dialogue overhaul Used to use on their first version. Something happened during the updates of those mods and this file wasn't required anymore but sometimes you can find some patches around nexus that requieres this file that is supposed to be in the main mod... For example the ImmersiveArmors.esp from SkyRe is not the same as the original of Immersive armors. When I run Loot to set my load order it reported me that the SPIKE.ESM was missing. So I made some research and I found it. But as for more convenience to the community I upload it to the nexus... (English is not my language)
Hey I know It's a simple mod but it is super helpful, thanks so much for putting it on here, super annoying when cool mods still require SPIKE even though its pretty much obsolete! :-)
