Is this staff supposed to have unlimited uses? Also, when I attack an enemy, they are propelled through the air quite a distance. I didn't see either of these two aspects mentioned in the description.
Hello.. first time poster, long time modder. Gotta say, love the idea for this. I'm just having a problem with the mod and thought someone might have an idea of what is going on. The staff has no problem casting the light, but when I use it to attack an enemy (wolf, bandit, flame atronach - didn't matter) I had no damaging effect. I tried using the staff to resurrect and that too had no effect. I have not tested the healing as of writing this yet.
I am going to assume the healing works.. it seemed that some magic effect applied to the enemy.
sorry for waiting, i redownloaded and reinstalled the mod and i couldnt find any problems with it. However i guess that you have the latest patch of the game, if so, the only way the script can malfunction is if you installed some script enhancing mod other than SKSE, or installed the mod incorrectly, i would recommend you to install this mod manually. if that doesn't work i am out of ideas.
If you want to use the idea for this mod or the model of the staff for your own purposes be free to do whatever you want with it, because i am very busy at this moment and simply dont have the time to change or update this mod any time soon. thanks for trying my mod. hope this helps you.
The location of the staff is Winterhold College in the Arch-Mage's Quarters somewhere in the middle of the arboretum you can't miss it(no quests are required to be finished however if you are not the Arch-Mage you should firstly brake into the Arch-Mages Quaters).
Also you should know that if the mod failed to install or is in conflict with another mod(that changes somehow the Arch-Mage's Arboretum) you wont be able to find it.
In order to check if the mod installed:
1. Open up the Skyrim console,
2. Write <help "The Elder Staff"> without the <>,
3. if console displays something like: WEAP: (1E000D62) 'The Elder Staff' - that means that the mod is successfully installed and you can get the Staff by writing the following command: player.addItem 1E000D62 1 but you should change 1E000D62 to the code your console gave you after WEAP:
4. if the console doesn't display anything the mod failed to install.
I really enjoy the idea of a multipurpose staff (disencumbering my mage) and so far it seems quite compact and simple (ideal for a weapon mod), but get more work on the mesh, its better than the first but not yet there... ask someone to make it, you might end up with very nice results!
I lack the idea to make a good looking staff, if you find me a sketch of a staff(or make one) i'll try and make it into a mesh. Anyway I'll make another one as a model update soon(like tomorrow). Thanks for the feedback.
A little correction it is not unpredictable at all if you hit an enemy the enemy takes damage if you hit a friend or neutral NPC it heals them, if you hit dead body it resurrects the NPC, if you hit the ground it grows a light source. The Wabbajack uses a random function to pick a spell this staff picks a spell depending on the NPC's stats(friendly or hostile, friend/neutral or enemy, dead or alive, NPC or object). Thanx for trying my mod.
That's why I said less unpredictable, for Skyrim standards, I mean. If I have a staff enchanted with Destruction, I expect it to destruct my target instead of being selective or have multiple or random effects.
In fact, such selectiveness is already present in game through Companion's Insight given to the Dragonborn by Hermaeus Mora.
Cool. But to become hot file you need to work harder in texture. Maybe a modified version of the Wabbajack, or perhaps a junction of 3 types of staves. Put some effects. Just an advice, but you're doing well!
I will modify the mesh once again plus i'll take your advice and create custom effects for it(within the next 7 days), and this staff is custom script operated(I wanted to add a ward spell also but a friend of mine told me that it will be too overpowered) just saying that the script might be changed too, and if there are any bugs or malfunctions please let me know coz this script is just a test prototype. Thanks for the input.

Looks interesting, will be downloading. 4 Staffs in 1 that's handy.
Wabbajack, Wabbajack, Wabbajack, Wabbajack....
