Nice concept making information available from ingame reading books. 1st of all its lore friendly. 2nd it gets rid of the frustration of having to quit the game every time to look something up. Lol... The Berenziah quest markers are 1 of those frustrating thingies ( got 2/3 collected ). Its a damn nuisance not having npc's telling gossip as to where they're located. Having to stumble on them by accident or thieves guild looting missions in npc houses With the new Skyrim additions its at least a bit easier to get the more rare ingredients close to a players home.
Gonna try this mod out and keep track on updates. Cause it would be such a waste not to use it after someone has put so much work into a game that's already a few years old. Needless to say this is 1 of the few games that hasnt lost its charm in all those years.
I've been playing some "free" online games. Those aren't really free in the sense of most games having pvp. Without paying real money you just dont have a chance winning against those who do. Even while playing pve you'll always come into collision with the greed and selfishness of other players.
As i see it, those "free" online games are always about competition. Turning people against each other. They'll never learn to cooperate to accomplish things! Anyways... Went back to the old fashioned "player vs computer" games of which TES is my favorite!
Just wanna say... Glad to see some people still support this old game. Keep up the good work!
If you add the books to Belethor's personal inventories, (not his merchant chest) he will sell them, they will not respawn, and are not added to leveled lists i.e. other merchants inventories, you can do this with any merchant in the game. This way people can buy them, pickpocket them etc. and also they can still use the console commands. If you give them a low value 1 gold or something the price should stay pretty close even if you are using economy mods, or you can make them expensive, kinda like a "cheat tax". I hope this helps, if you want I could do this and add them to all General Goods Merchants, or just a few select book merchants if you want. PM me if you like.
Yeah sure, if you like to do that go ahead, I'm happy regardless - personally I won't use it but I guess others may prefer your version better. Or perhaps put it in the Arcaneum?
Honestly I only go to CK when I really have a need and can't find a mod for the purpose I'm seeking - I play most of the time lol
I'm happy to make this for you, I will PM you with my contact details, and I can send it to you, and you can upload it as an optional file if you like. I think your idea is a great one and you put such great effort in the books, I am just not a fan of console commands as they break immersion for me.
Sure thing Not much effort actually, it's quite easy, just tedious/time consuming copying/pasting everything from UESP to the books / translating into HTML and trying to write them as lore-friendly as possible.
But I kinda had no choice unless I wanted to spend a few hours running around in circles instead! lol
Cool, this looks very interesting. I will hopefully be running this on my next run through, IF I can get this thing re-installed where it will play again. I hate the way Steam corrupts stuff all the time. It thinks that a 9 gig game is NOT installed, and attempts to re-download everything again.
Anyway, thanks for the idea and the way you implemented it, my only real request would be ONE location that you can find at least one book physically in game, so I don't have to use the console. By using console, it turns off the legality of your playing character, and no further awards/achievements are given to your character. Soooo... if I could find the books physically instead of having to use the console, it would be great for me.
I do understand though, if you choose to not do that, as it does run into the possibility of not being compatible with other mods that physically make changes to the game world.
Thanks, and you're welcome. I understand not using the console, however as I'm running a heavy modded game and come regularly to the nexus for more, I am paranoid of making things incompatible/slowing things down/causing bugs due to 'Skyrim sorcery'. Also it's become normal for me however having to use moveto. player for some followers due to lack of warp and companions taking the scenic route, as well as resurrect due to NPCs getting killed due to vampires and dragons.
Also the books have a singular use; i.e. it's intended for use due to being stuck; like, I need to make an invisibility potion for a quest, or just started a tedious collection quest and need hints. In fact, I just released this mod after groaning at the thought of the crimson nirnroot quest again (see how the screenshot is as I entered blackreach? lol) and decided to put a darn map ingame!
No they aren't, as the Dawnguard/Dragonborn shouts are very easy to find / almost all quest-based, hence I never felt the need to go online to find the locations; and hence felt no need to mod it into the ingame book heh, still if there's enough demand I'll put it in, it's easy to do.
