There's no good reason to require the user to export the Facegen data. Many are not comfortable with the CK or have never used it. The usual practice is for the modder to export the facegen data and package it appropriately into the download file.
Just use the right path structure and you will have happy users.

EDIT: you might also want to describe the different followers (their skills, stats, spells, any special qualities, etc.).
