DOVKRONIID REDOUBT and Border Forts of Skyrim – Quest Version

***If you like, Please comment so others will know it is a quality mod; Thanks!!***

!! NOTE!! >>The Mod will not start until after you cross the stone bridge from Riverwood towards Whiterun. Either Vanilla Skyrim Start or any Live Another Life (or other alt starts) that start you somewhere south of Riverwood (I use the Sleeping Giant Inn patron start from LAL) will work.

Now ETaC (Expanded Towns and Cities) compatible!
Now Immersive Horses compatible!

Really recommend you have the optional Arwen, Annika, and Freya’s Mods loaded before you start.

This mod also includes 5 border Forts at the passes to Skyrim. Adding bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 to the [General] section of your Skyrim.ini file will be recommended if you wish to fully interact with most of the features.

There is a Non-Apachii Sky Hairs version labeled NASH version at the bottom of the Files page.

Dragonborn Official DLC (or Legendary that includes it)
ApachiiSkyhair v1_6 Full: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10168/?
And optional ApachiiSkyHairFemale v1_5 (available at same link)
IF YOU DO NOY HAVE THESE 3 YOU WILL CRASH AT STARTUP!!!!!

If you use the DFOS patch, you will need Drinking Fountains of Skyrim (DFOS) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24282/?

Live Another Life - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557/?

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, recommend you install the SKSE memory patch and ENBoost. View Gopher’s very extensive instructions in his video at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37xAMUQc1oY
Trust me, it will make this mod playable. If you do not install these two, then, you will probably crash every time you come near the Redoubt, because of Bethesda Vanilla memory allocation bugs. After I installed these two, I have had ZERO problems. Alternate location to view: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/news/12278/?

Extensible Follower Framework: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12933/? (You will also need the mind control spell v3-5-0 optional file. Type help "mind control" in the console. Then type player.addspell 1301C81A if that was the code for the spell. Equip it as any other spell and hit Hildara with it. She may unsheathe her weapon – because you are in combat mode. Re-sheath and she will be following you. 1301C81A is what the spell comes up as in my game – it may be different in your game, depending on your mods. EFF Version 4.0+ may not need this.

Ethereal Elven Overhaul: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24273/? Or Hildara might look fugly.

Opulent Outfits Mage Robes of Winterhold: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35002/?Common robes and the replacer pack downloads. Use this and Hildara and Olav will dress like a BOSS!

The Eyes of Beauty: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13722/?

>>If you use OBIS (Organized Bandits In Skyrim), DovKroniid Redoubt should be placed lower than OBIS in your load order.

Do NOT recommend ASIS, I have enough bad guys for you to handle. The IS part of ASIS will blow up your machine :)

DovKroniid Redoubt is a massive fortification on the border of Whiterun and Hjaalmarch holds. This former Imperial fortification guards the strategic caravan and trade route from Whiterun through the Labyrinthian Ruins complex and on to Morthal, Dawnstar and Solitude. The origins of the Redoubt are shrouded in the mysteries of the Dragon Wars of the Merethic Era. In the Dragon language, DovKroniid means “Conqueror of the Dragon Race,” And therefore may have been constructed on the site of an original residence of the great Nord heroes of that era, Hakon One-eye, Felldir the Old, or Gormlaith Golden-hilt, or maybe one of their enemies, a powerful Dragon Priest that collaborated with the Dragon overlords in enslaving mankind. No one knows. This fortification was abandoned, like many in Skyrim during the Great War, and subsequently has fallen into a state of disrepair and been taken over by a strong bandit faction led by a figure calling himself “The Bandit King.” Bandits and deserters from the civil war have flocked to the station, making it a formidable obstacle to regional stability and trade. The Bandit King faction (aka The Hörme) has erected an additional watch camp locating it where the main road from Whiterun meets the trade road into the Labyrinthian pass.

The player must clear the caravan route from Whiterun to Morthal. This will involve clearing the bandits in the entire central Whiterun Hold region (Smuggler’s Den, Fort Greymoor, Redoran’s Retreat, Silent Moons Camp, Halted Stream Camp, and Dovkroniid Redoubt and its Advanced Camp). In addition, any threats in the exterior of the Labyrinthian must be dealt with so that merchant and Khajiit caravans may pass through the area unmolested.

DovKroniid Redoubt will not be an easy nut to crack. It is heavily recommended that mercenaries or multiple followers be procured to deal with this major bandit infestation.

Once the trade route is open and the redoubt has been conquered and held, Caravans will move and travel on a regular schedule between Solitude, Morthal, Dawnstar and Falkreath, visiting and camping outside DovKroniid Redoubt on the way . They will also travel to a Caravan Depot outside of Falkreath, and that Depot will visit the border at Elenhir to resupply from Hammerfell (and Elsweyr).

All of the border points to Skyrim (Jehanna – West to High Rock; Elenhir – SW to Hammerfell; Pale – S to Cyrodiil; Rift – SE of Riften to Morrowind; and, Dunmeth E of Windhelm to Morrowind)are now protected by a medium sized fort which will be manned by the appropriate faction.

Adding bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 to the [General] section of your Skyrim.ini file will be recommended if you wish to fully interact with most of the features of the Border Forts.

The Redoubt can be occupied by the player. The exterior can be upgraded by purchasing them from a trade advisor in Morthal. After the player has become Thane of Hjaalmarch, the Manor will be available for purchase as a player home and upgrades will be purchasable from the same advisor. Hildara, a powerful Altmer spell sword, will also be available as the housecarl for DovKroniid Manor.
There will be plenty of additional upgrades and surprises associated with this complex and its quest lines.

Hopefully, there will be a way to link this to the Bruma release of the Cyrodiil part from the Beyond Skyrim team and other future releases from them.

There are two quests involving the Border forts.

Bethesda Game Studios – Obviously for the Game and more critically the Creation Kit – you have captured my imagination and enhanced my willingness to embrace change, challenge, and unfamiliar technology to make a vision become reality (virtual reality counts ). In fact, thanks for screwing up the quest for Proudspire Manor in Solitude and making Lisette non-recruitable. If I had been able to get her and it on PS3, I might have never decided to make my own followers and home.

SLuckyD - quickly found the source of a serious CK induced glitch and suggested a fix that worked!! This was early on and could have doomed the release.

Amethyst Deceiver - Mannequin script for the store: buy an outfit right off the store display mannequin!

Neo aka, neovinci – Allowed me to use a special boss armor – you will know it when you see it – it’s spectacular!

Ch0k3h0ld: Early merge issue solution from a SERIOUS CK induced error in Jun 2012.

Hanaisse-For the sign for The Dragon’s Breath Inn. It’s Perfect!

Numerous people (AJV, Balock, Hypno88, numerous others) on the Skyrim Creation Kit forum who offered key helps and advice.

Special thanks to my Voice Actors, who did a bang-up job, especially for being first-timers!

Thorek – Alex Plavnik
Junius – Bill Dwyer
Hildara – Sharon Boyd
Quaestor Mundi - John Pulwers
