It's not nice looking if it's impractical. There is unitary between truth, beauty and goodness. If it's impractical then it can't be neither good nor true, therefore it's not beautiful. I love Skyrim's original wooden bow among all others exactly because it's most practical.
tested in-game not sure if its bec. of SKyre. but its Iron Longbow. hehe very nicely done. was really irritated by the vanilla longbow. =p will come back later to endorse!
I absolutely love the modell, but I didn't like that it lacked a wooden texture so I made one, with a HQ normalmap uncompressed. I don't know if you allow me to do this but hey feel free to delete my comment if you wish!
Oh and btw, feel free to do anything you want with the textures. But if you decide to use mine as a replacer, a credit wouldn't hurt anything? :$
Really like it, nice new shape to a boring old bow. A nice wooden texture would be nice for it to as its a little blurry and plastic looking, but other then that I love it
I agree on the texture issue. Just some nice wood grain, maybe yew, because no one seems to have done a yew bow at all. The shape is great, looks way different from most of the other bows floating around.
There are a few oddball ones, but mostly a very similar look prevails.
I don't know if this is doable, but your longbow replacer would garner perfection status if you added or used a more noticeable wood grain texture to your model. The mesh is where all the work is at, right? So, adding a more wood-like texture is easy-peasy?
EDIT:
I opened the texture files, you really put a lot of detail in your texture work, but it was not showing/coming across much in-game for me. So, what I did was adjusted some curves settings on bow.dds and do a little sharpening effect.

Not sure where my earlier comment disappeared to, but the file was updated, wanted to know what, if anything had changed.
I uploaded a picture showing before and after.

This made all the difference, imo.
