Good job for a starter. You know that your shields are painted on both surfaces right? I don't know if that is intentional, but thought to tell.
The warpainted shields appears a bit too dark. Perhaps you could add some brighter surfaces to break the constant black cover. Then again, vanilla skyrim lighting is scarce I think.
Nice. Immersive armors has quite a few painted shields plus a mechanism for creating them. You should take a look at it for inspiration.
You should think about why people have different designs and incorporate that into your mod. I
Is the design an expression of the owner's personality or just flaunting their individual prowess, in which case they are all unique?
Are they religious/magical in nature, appealing to a divinity to aid the warrior? (A symbol of Stendar to protect the wearer, a Gorgon Medusa to petrify the enemy who sees it, various Daedric beings to make the inner more powerful in battle, a healing Aedra to protect the wearer, Metidia to grant the owner protection from undead, etc? You might even have small bonus attached to these much like the backpack mod in Frostfall allows you to integrate amulets into your backpack.
Are the a symbol of the family or ancestry in which case the Battleborns would all have the same one while the Greymanes would have another?
Or are they symbols of a faction or cause - guild, city, imperial or rebel, etc?
AFAIK there is no definitive lore answer to this question so you can choose a rationale to guide you, and then when users know what it is they will understand why certain people gave one it another shield in game.
