HI anyone got problem with shrine of talos...it seem in my playthrough at first i can activate the menu when using shrine of talos(just to tested if the mod is working while in whiterun)but later in -game i just used blessing from another shrine and cure disease working flawlessly. But the problems occurred when i tried to gain blessing from shrine of talos after becoming dragonborn...but the menu does not appeared and the shrine just took 100 septims from me..and it only happened when using shrine of talos while the other work flawlessly...anyone know what might be the problem? TQ
Great mod. Love the new Divine effects, love the synergy between amulets and blessings, love the lightweight morality system.
The one little iff I have about it, is I think the donations should be a percent value of your gold, instead of a flat value of 100 and 200. You know, a tithe. That way the poor and destitute would have an alternative to cure disease potions and such, and it would encourage the crafting and use of disease potions late-game when you're loaded, and your greedy, heathen Dragonborn doesn't wanna give up a thousand gold.
Hell, if you really wanna take it far, you could make it so the player could set their own percent tithe, and get a blessing of proportional strength. Or have a percent chance of a disease being cured.
I'm guessing all this has probably gone through your head at some point already. Don't have any modding experience myself, but I'm pretty sure scripting would be involved with my suggestion, which... As a novice programmer... Yeah. Can be daunting. Maybe I should get off my lazy bum and make something myself one of these days.
wicked mod, man! could you add something similar for Daedra worshipping? for example, Dragonborn has the Reclamations' Temple, those give blessings as well...
Blessings should still be free.... what gave you the idea that they shouldn't be? Also, "A side effect of this mod is making it that diseases actually have meaning. In vanilla, diseases serve little to no purpose besides making you wonder if you can still finish the current dungeon, or if you have to take the time to walk to an altar. Now that curing diseases at least costs 200 gold, you'll at least feel a little bit of pain every time you contract a disease. " Nah, i have garlic bread, so i don't need to pay a single gold for the already free cure at any shrine.
BigManOnMulberryStreet, Great mod, really good changes to the blessings, especially the duplicated pricing buffs and other immersive impacts.
Only wish is for no curing of diseases, I think that is a mistake in vanilla since it makes diseases pointless. Maybe a disease resistance makes sense. Also, the idea of paying at a shrine... Hopefully the gods are not so focused on gold, but I get your thought to increase the impact of diseases. Using with Requiem which has some great restrictions on piety that are needed for buffs to take place. I carry them forward into yours.
Hi I seem to have a similar problem that someone else mentioned. I can't activate some of the shrines (e.g. shrine in temple of kynareth in whiterun, sjrine above hall of the dead. Clicking on the shrines simply does nothing, no message, nothing) but the shrine inside the hall of the dead worked properly; menu appeared when activated and the blessing was applied to me, so the script is running.
Here are the steps I've taken to troubleshoot: - I can confirm it is caused by your mod as disabling it makes the shrines work as vanilla. - I have placed the esp at the bottom and close to the top of my load order with no change. - The only other mod I had that affected shrines was Shrine Blessings Descriptions which I have disabled. - I do not use non-essential children. - I use frostfall & RND but I dont use the frostfall patch (Im guessing this is an optional patch to transfer your amulet blessings to the backpack). - I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mod.
I use Mod Organizer and I can see the mod files overwrites 2 files from unoffical skyrim patch (which you mentioned in your notes). I have not been to solstheim yet.
Thanks for a great mod and hopefully you can help me solve the issue.
Any altar that your game has already loaded, as in you were in the cell where that Altar is, will not work after this mod is downloaded; any altar that you haven't loaded however will still work. It's possible that you can wait for cells to reset, and then the altars would work; but as for anything dealing with scripts, it's always safer to use a fresh game.
Edit: Tested it, waiting for cells to reset doesn't seem to fix it. So, basically, if you install this mod mid-game, count any altars you've loaded as nonexistent.
Thanks for checking that for us and adding it to the Troubleshooting section, it will really help curb alot of confusion that people might have if they come across the issue. Will you be working on a fix for this or are you going to just advise starting a new game with this mod? I have visited maybe 2-3 shrines so I can probably continue using the mod luckily for me.
I mean, to be fair, I'm not totally sure why this happens; I didn't replace the scripts, I just edited them, which I thought would change it so that the altars would run fine; I used to have it so it worked off of a different script I made, but that didn't work either. Unless someone can inform me of a way to fix this, I simply have no idea how to approach the issue, short of hand replacing every altar in the game with a different version of my own altars.
Big thanks for your fast feedback and your detective work!! After a time of testing by myself i can say, you are completely right! Altars, which are already loaded in an existing savegame, wont work.
I will still use this mod in my old savegames, too. Its just too good and that little bit of more running is worth it!
This probably has something to do with scripts that are baked into saved games. My theory is because the already loaded altars have had the unedited script attached to them, when the game is saved the engine writes that attachment into the save file. When the mod is then activated and the save is loaded, the game then wants to use the original script as per the save file's instructions, but because that script no longer exists in the unedited form, the game gets confused and just fails to run the script on those altars. Any newly loaded altars will have the edited script attached to them in the save, so that they will likely be broke if the mod is later uninstalled. It's possible the author could spend weeks on the issue and never resolve it due to this feature of Skyrim that has been the bane of countless modders. Starting a new game is generally the best option whenever one changes one's mod load order, especially if dealing with script mods.
Edit: does Arkay give any reward for simply killing Eola in the halls of the dead, having never been tempted by the seductive allure of cannibalism? Or is it only for going through the whole scheme and then killing her at the end?

Anyway. Love your work. Thanks for keeping at it.
