It's because the description is confusing. The main file is a standalone version, which is supposed to be craftable (I didn't test it, I used additem menu). If you want a replacer version, you need to download "EbonyRemake" under the "Old files". Helmet not included in this one.
But for my taste the shape of the body in this version is too skinny. You can replace meshes from "EbonyRemake" with those that can be found in the main file. Copy files from "Ebony Valkyrie armor-49953-final\data\meshes\armor\ebonyvalkyrie\f" to "EbonyRemake-49953-\Data\meshes\armor\ebony\f" and voila. Worked for me at least.

I really doubted at first, but at stake the armor is perfect regardless of the body that I put on it, I think that all people who use female characters should have it, good job endorsed friend (if you do not understand me, it is because I use a translator)
im really enjoy to check all possible female armors in game. Must say, this armor is one of the most well-built and beautiful. You really need to make a game-way to get this. Srsly, its absolutely perfect armor.
Those from sofia are mine, you need to instal the textures from "aMidianBorn ebony armor GOLD textures" from (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37487/?). With the meshes from this mod. That's it. Note: I try to use it in SE but i fail even if i open/save it with CK64.
