One does not simply use a land resource as it is. You have to import more resources like buildings, clutter, and so forth into the mod. Some of these resources can have up to 800 nifs. Imagine importing 800 nifs one at a time. It is insane. I have spent 2 weeks importing as many nifs into my mod. By the way, you can drag nifs into the ck. No need to create them one at a time.
Oh I see now. Well you can import items/objects by having two plugins loaded and duplicating. So for example if you loaded Paradise Island into the CK as the active file and a plugin of yours with the stuff you wanted as another you could go to your objects in the CK and duplicate them. Then save the active plugin (Paradise island), then when you just load paradise island they will have been copied (obviously your meshes and textures must still be in the data folder).
This is still tedious of course, but not as tedious as creating each object from a nif in the meshes folder.
you can also duplicate interior cells this way - but you would have to swap out any objects you duplicated with the duplicated versions before unloading the plugin your copying from. If you have any built exterior buildings in your plugin you can copy them into an interior cell and duplicate that.
The really quick way would be to merge plugins. Then you would get everything from the plugin you were merging with Paradise Island including any changes to exterior cells in the Tamriel worldspace; depends whether you want this.
I have used all these methods and they worked for me.
I have spent a lot of time importing resources and building things in the ck. I wanted to avoid the lengthy time it takes to recreate buildings by simply copying and moving them to my own mod. I have tried a number of things all which have failed. Is there a way to copy a building or structure in a modders resource and paste it in my world somewhere? When I tried it last night it gave me navmesh and landscape problems because it did not copy with the copy/paste of the structure. Thank you
Used the mine in my mod and I am thinking the whole island will be useful. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60829/?
Trouble is the island I have in mind is oriental themed which would mean stripping out all the existing structures which would be a shame, particularly as the the NPC packages work so well. I may have to invent a new island for it to be!
The AI packs and villagers can be repurposed. Copy and paste the markers and redirect the AI packs to them. Then move the markers around to fit. But it would probably be easier to rebuild the AI packs in the long run. Glad to see this actually being used, thanks.
