First - I really loved the concept of your mod. I really like the witcher feel of your special ammo. It also looks great!
Unfortunately, It doesn't seem to be working. Even when put in the last of the load order. I really couldn't find what caused it in Xedit, there it seems to be just fine, but every time I shoot a vampire, undead, werewolf and such, there is no extra damage.
Ermm... looked around. The old version of Nexus had a way of porting the mod to SSE. But I can't seem to find that button anymore. :S I'd be happy to once I figure it out!
Would you consider an XB1 port through Beth.net? I have better vampires but ironically I can't get access to the silver bolts that mod has unless I become a vampire and loot them off of NPCs.
In the CK: File> "upload plugin and archive to bethesda.net". If the selections are grayed out there is a button underneath it that tells you to login to beth.net first.
So basically you just need an account there to upload it from straight from the CK.
Also bonus question: Do the silver bolts really do more damage to vampires and such? Weird question i know but i know some other mods that just label them that way, but i suspect this mod actually achieves this. I've no idea how people do it.
By the way i really appreciate you considering this.
The mod somehow prevents my character from transforming into a vampire lord. The power activates and the transformation goes through, but the character is stuck right before it finishes. I decided to make a new character, added the power via console, and still am unable to transform.
The cause is with the newest version of this mod. Using the 1.01 version or uninstalling resolves this issue.
It was a custom race. The transformation occurs but the character never actually transform into a vampire lord. Instead, they get stuck in mid transformation. Installing version 1.02 causes this. I can turn just fine if I am using 1.01 or not using the mod at all.
Hmm... maybe I'll try uploading 1.03 tomorrow and see if that works. Because there was a dirty edit with the Khajit Vampire Race, and if the custom race is based on the Khajit, then there's the problem.
Do you have the race compatibility mod installed? what you are describing is a common problem with custom races and the vampire/where wolf transformation that occurs without that mod installed
Hey, while I was working on my crossbow mod I found a potentially bad error in your .nif it's using absolute paths. Not relative ones so if anyone has skyrim installed in a non defualt path the texture won't show.
Has anyone tried this mod with Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade? I'm just wondering, as CCOR has an MCM option which allows you to adjust the bonus damage for silver, as it converts Silver bonus damage to a percentage damage bonus (set at 30%) rather than a particular figure. This functionality does work with other mods, such as Immersive Weapons honed silver swords, so I wondered if it would do the same here.
I mean, I'm willing to give it a go myself, if no-one else has tried it, but I thought it would be worth asking first. I'm playing with a few mods which really increase the difficulty in fighting vampires, so anything which can give me a (balanced) edge in fighting them is of interest.
Could you do this for arrows to? i've got a character who hunts undead and i have made a bunch of silver weapons but am unsure on how to add the silversilverswordffcontact to the arrows
I would, except I have NO idea how I would balance Silver Arrows. Crossbow was easier because there were only two other bolts. Arrows would be much harder. :/
Personally feel the damage is fine in fact if you lowered the damage I think it would make them underpowered but that could just be in my game. I play on legendary difficulty and with immerseive creatures also set to legendary and even with these bolts undead can still be a hassle to deal with in fact when I first tried the mod I thought the extra damage wasn't being dealt due to the ridiculous toughness of the undead in my game I had to do some special testing to confirm the the damage was being done.
I loaded my test save, gave myself all bolts in the game and spawned a regular Draugr, at level 1 with no archery perks and an upgraded crossbow (and not getting any criticals) here's how many shots it took me to down a Basic Draugr:
Steel Bolt: 7 Exploding Steel Bolt of Fire: 5 Exploding Steel Bolt of Ice: 6 Exploding Steel Bolt of Shock: 5 Dwarven Bolt: 6 Exploding Dwarven Bolt of Fire: 4 Exploding Dwarven Bolt of Ice: 5 Exploding Dwarven Bolt of Shock: 4 Silver Bolt: 3
So I can tell you that for my game personally they're defiantly not over powered and are the best bolts I have for killing undead and even with them there are some Draugrs and Skeletons I run into that I need to pump like 20 Silver Bolts into before they go down.
Perhaps you should add to your description which smithing perk is required for crafting silver bolts. You only mention the crafting recipe (firewood + silver ingot), but what smithing perk enables it?
That's odd... I don't see it anywhere. I've just read the past comments and I'm not using better vampires. I am using a number of other mods though. Perhaps there are incompatibilities with some of them. Here are some mods that come to mind (The only ones i know that modify/add to the smithing menu):
Immersive Weapons Immersive Armors Hunterborn Frostfall Crossbows Basic Collection Bandolier Cloaks of Skyrim Winter is Coming
I wouldn't know why any of these mods would keep Silver Bolts from showing up, but i am still fairly new to modding.
I don't see the silver bolts under the MISC catagory. I have several other items in MISC, but silver bolts aren't one of them. I can buy the silver bolts from vendors though. I just can't craft them myself.
I got an idea. Try doing a complete clean install of my silver bolts mod. In the meantime, I'll make it require the Steel perk and if the clean install doesn't work, I'll upload the steel perk as an optional file.
What I mean is uninstall the silver bolts mod, and then install the 1.01 version. The game may be holding some data from previous versions of the mod, though, I dunno if that's true. Give it a shot.
Alright, so i completely deleted it and reinstalled v1.01 and i'm still not seeing it in the crafting menu. If you do give the option for it to require the steel smithing perk i'll probably give that a try.
Stupid question: do you have the required materials for it? I've heard of some recipes in other mods that won't appear unless you actually have the stuff you need. Just a shot in the dark at this point.
I decided to test this mod for my next play through but found that I was having the same problem I'd install the mod, head to the forge and try to craft the bolts only to find them not in the menu but I could find them on venders it was very annoying but I did really want to try this so I decided to do some more testing.
The save I was loading to test the mod is a completely clean save I keep solely for testing purposes, the save is from right after leaving Helgen and no matter what I did I couldn't craft the arrows.
So I decided to load a save from a previous play though that was fairly far along (80 some hours) and found that I could craft the bolts just fine on that save, odd thing is I didn't think it could be a mod conflict preventing it because the mod load out for this play though wasn't much different form the one I was testing.
After that I decided to open up the esp in the creation kit and poke around, I looked over the crafting recipe in the creation kit and I noticed that in the "Match Conditions" box the recipe has " DLC1TechXbowSteelChanceNone" entered.
I believe this condition requires you to have spoken to "Sorine Jurard" in the Dawnguard quest line and learned how to craft crossbows and basic steel bolts from her before you can craft silver bolts which would explain why I could craft them in a save where I had advanced in the Dawnguard quest line and not in a brand new save.
I decided to delete the match condition, save the esp and went in game to my test save and sure enough I could immediately craft the silver bolts at the forge.
Looks like that is the issue with it not showing up in the crafting menu for some people, hope that helps.

If there is a fix or ideas, I'm all ears.

I'll double check to make sure the bolts deal x3 damage to vampires.
There's no selection for Beth's site. :/

I have no idea what the problem is now.
I can send you the fixed nif if you would like.

Question: Do you think I should change the extra damage to undead from 36 to 24?
