NO meshes from Nerevar as they might cause clipping, so keep the originals. Overwrite original textures with Nerevar textures but keep original "sagecloak_n.dds" and "dragonpriest_n.dds" files. Nerevar sagecloak file caused the dark capes and dragonpriest file quality was reduced.
Does anyone know specifically what is the differences between the meshes provided in this mod vs the original meshes from Cloaks of Skyrim? Doing a byte-by-byte comparison using FC.exe in DOS I can see a few hundred bytes change in most mesh files from the original -- but browsing the files side by side in NifScope...I cannot see where the difference is. The texture filenames, and BSLightingShaderProperty flags are all the same. The reason I am asking for this is because I want to use HDT cloaks ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72581 ) with these textures. I want to know if I need to make any changes to the HDT cloak meshes to use these hi-res textures -- if I need to make a compatibility patch -- or if just installing and overwriting everything in the proper order will get it all working together.
I think the meshes are basically the same, but have different maps so the textures would fit. I have played with HDT cloaks for a while with this and found no issues. Hope it helps
yeah same here. only the burlap and linen cloaks have this problem. sad, the textures are so nice though but i prefer cloaks over capes and this makes cloaks unusable so gonna have to uninstall.
Only recently installed and noticed some of the same.
If you're using MO, it's relatively simple to add/remove the offending textures/meshes. Overall, I think it's worth the extra effort since I love everything else.
Are you using an ENB? If you are I apologize. Perhaps it's something else.
If not, ENBs tend to make everything much brighter than vanilla. In response, texture authors will usually make textures considerably darker so that they look normal when running an ENB.
This problem solves easily. After retexture installation take file Textures/clothes/cloaksofskyrim/sagecloak_n.dss and replace it by the original non-replacer version of this file. Done!
Yeah, the dark capes are too dark, the colorful capes have too much contrast and saturation (for instance, check out the Whiterun Guard capes - it doesn't blend at all with the colors of their armor) and the meshes clip more often.
Firewalker13's fix works! Note: You may not have the previous dds handy. What to do is inactivate Nerevar with NMM. This will replace the original CoS dds. Find that and copy it. Reactivate Nerevar. Replace the file with the one you copied as Firewalker instructs.
1) gave up on cloaks because they were so ug.. pre 2K-4K retextures we'll say 2) just checked if someone had the good idea to HQ them..and found this, thx a lot Nerevar ! 3) same problem as the others with seasons of skyrim ENB, cloak goes from colored to pure black depending on where you stand 4) firewalker fix worked great (also the original sagecloak_n.dss is much bigger sized)
thx Nerevar and Firewalker I can finally enjoy cloaks of skyrim in my HQ skyrim

Especially noticeable on the Greybeard Cloak.
