I just recently stopped playing SkyRe in favor of giving Ordinator a try (at the moment, I'm enjoying the perk difference, but too much has changed) but I've played it for years and I have to point a few things concerning the Destruction bashing:
1: If you're playing with the intent of "I'm a mage, thus my weapon is destruction" then I'm afraid you're not playing a mage, you're playing a Fighter with spells, and that's rather weak. T3ndo made SkyRe swap the Destruction and Restoration enchantments from "reduces magicka cost" to "increase value" because all "mages" needed were a few enchantments, and they could cruise through the game spamming Thunderbolts and Heals. Destruction finishes off enemies, it doesn't entail the entirety of combat, and using it as you're only weapon instead of planning combat with summoned minions, tactical paralyze, or well chosen Frenzy target is a bit too meathead.
2: Conjuration, Illusion and Alteration should be your go-to combat assortment, especially in the early fight. Tanks (summons), defenses (oakskin, paralyze) and havoc (fear, charm, frenzy) are what makes a mage so powerful in combat. Any idiot can put damage on the board with a sword or spell, so let the idiots do the damage. You're not an idiot, you're a mage, you control, and thus win. So go win. Make the biggest baddie in the room a threat for your enemies with Frenzy, Paralyze the archer, and let your summon and followers handle the grunts. Why do you think Darth Vader let his Storm Troopers go in first?
3: Destruction also isn't as bad as you make it sound. I usually have no problems taking out most enemies even *if* I decide to resort to the brainless spell spam. Tactics as any character are important, especially on higher difficulties, and they are downright essential as a mage. Use a Flames spell for half a second and letting the fire DoT do its thing, or plan which spell to use against your opponents based on who/what you're fighting and where. Its much better than just "hold this attack until it stops moving"... that's right up there with "I haz hammer, I hit til it ded." Too many mages go for "this is my biggest boom now, so its also the only damage spell I'll use."

In early-mid, and mid level destro mage is a nightmare. The one and only way you can play without running away for manaregen between like 2 enemies, or multiple times on a strong enemy is using fire spells only, and even with that you run out of magicka quickly, then you left with the novice spell which is better, than was, but still much weaker, than a melee warrior, or an archer.

Yea sure you can play "smart mage" and use other spellschools. In fact the best tactic is to spam conjured stuff until enemies dead, and hide or run away while your pet do the dirty work, or use illusion to make enemies kill each other. You can do that without ever investing into mana from your stat in fact! AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM! If you play anything that isn't destro mage, then you can go full health, and use gear, and standing stone to get what you need. Destro mage can go for full magicka, and still run our of magicka. On the other hand you get killed easily.

I tried being a "hybrid". Get the 3 perk from conjuration, then conjure a sword, and use it as a backup weapon. When magicka out, and perk destruction first. You know what. Ended up using that sword like 80% of the time. Despite perking destruction first it wasn't enough! I couldn't even kill a small boss from full magicka without having to swing that sword in the end. On the other hand i had to drink plenty of potions, because i wasted my mana on destruction spells.

I played Skyre for a while, and while it is awesome it is true, that pure mage just weak. You get a mage robe, atronach stone, and you can cast spells like master in any other spellschool. Mage gear+atronach stone, and i don't need to invest any into magicka to be able to use any school effectively except destruction. I hope this mod solves that, because i like to be destruction mage. I want to go around, and fucking destroy anythign that gets in my way.

I've been playing with this Mod for a while, and while I find it enjoyable, for low level characters the damage is actually even more atrocious than normal SkyRe. I believe that it is mainly the change to the Novice, Apprentice, Adept etc Perks that cause this. From my experience and testing, this mod only really starts to increase your damage with spells once you get to around level 50 in destruction, which for me is usually somewhere around 15, and even then, the damage itself isn't much higher than default SkyRe.
I'm not saying anything bad about the mod, really. I enjoy it, I wouldn't play without it. I just wish there was some way to make it a little stronger in the early game.
I think a good alternative would be something like: Roll back in the 25% damage increase into the Novice, Apprentice, etc perks, and then change Destructive Power to give a .4%(1 Perk, .5%(2 Perk), and .6%(3 Perk) increase in damage per skill in Destruction, rather than 1% per point over 25.
    Here is an example:
Currently at 50 destruction, you would deal 20% increased damage with spells.
With my alteration at 50 Destruction, you would deal 45% increased damage with spells.
It sounds like it's much better, but it simply front loads some of the damage bonus.
At 150 Destruction, you would deal 125% increased damage with spells.
With my alteration at 150 Destruction, you would deal 115% increased damage with spells.
I do honestly believe that this wouldn't make the mod more overpowered than it is right now, but would help alleviate some of the issues that I faced. Playing on Adept at level 10 with 40 Destruction, it would take my entire Magicka pool to kill even a single enemy.
Thank you for your time, and sorry if I sound like a whiny little b&@*$, I was just a little bit disappointed to find out that my spells actually became even weaker in the early game.

Let me say right off the bat i love SkyRE and i've been using it awhile, but now level 20 on my mage, and i finally hitting a spot where... damage is literally trash...i have 47 destruction skill, and 2 rash studies, and 1 ice skill focus and 12% destruction damage boost and i just blasted a bandit for less then a percent of his hp with a fully charged ice spike... meanwhile my companion just shot an arrow for like 1/4 of his health...seriously i cant believe there is zero spells scaling for destruction in RE i am REALLY glad this mod exists!

1% gets pretty op, good thing we can choose not to take the final perks for the sake of balance.

Your first perk gives 0.8%. Then two more add only 0.2% on to that (1% - 0.8% = 0.2%). Not sure how that can be balanced.

I'm not against balancing mods like this. I don't care if they're overpowered or a huge NERF. I just wanted to point out that if you run out of magicka you still have staves, scrolls, and magicka potions.

Can't believe that the presumably best perk mod out there is so imbalanced. I wanted to give it a try (using SPERG before) and playing a fighter or archer is ok. Then I rolled mage, horrible. I'm using Mighty Magick scaling instead of yours now(almost the same but also increases the durations), it seems a bit better. It would be sad if I had to move back to SPERG after all this messing with reproccer and getting everything to work.

I'm a bit afraid though that it will make me OP. It could be solved by increasing difficulty, but then skeevers will one shot me ;/

Playing as high elfs mage with staff (staff perk in alteration) and Channel magicka i think your mod make Destruction overpower. Actually i play a Breton Cryomancer and for now i have not encounter no troubles, Dreamcloth helps a lot.

Have you ever thought that maybe is "Channel Magicka" to be overpowered?
Everything is fine without it, and then everything breaks with it...

IMHO, it's stupid to try and balance my mod only toward Channel Magicka. I must make a mod that is balanced for the general case, not just for High Elves.

Let me spend a few more words on Channel Magicka (I'm probably going to fix it in a future mod). Its concept is really cool, but its implementation is flawed.
      - It makes ALL spells cost more, even those without a magnitude. Wards greatly suffer from this. Conjurations too.
      - It computes the casting cost based on the magicka available BEFORE it gets spent, then it computes the magnitude AFTER the magicka has been spent. You may find yourself spending all of your magicka to cast your most powerful Skin spell with 200% casting cost, only to get a 0% magnitude increase.
      - Even with these handicaps, it still breaks balance.
      - It adds an annoying night-eye effect, that may break your efforts to play in a dark world.
These are the reasons why I usually turn it off.
