It didn't really seem to work for me at first. I don't know if it's because of me doing something wrong or an incompatibility with immersive first person view. Anyway, I manually cast the spell and after that it took me to the wwolf perk tree every time after I closed my inventory, so I guess it works. :) Good job! I'm sure there are many modders out there who could use this functionality. There's a lot of potential in this mod, keep up the great work!

I too really loved the concept and I'm hoping for full implementations of this mechanics although right now it didn't quite worked because vampire lord tree showed up with the riding perks instead(while mounted). Thumbs up for the concept, just like you wrote in description, this should get some attention at least as a way to add perks without replacing vanilla skill trees.

Edit: Also, really good perks you had put into the tree, make me want to get to the top!

If by "vampire lord tree showed up with the riding perks" you mean that you just see the vampire background then that's actually supposed to. Will try to find someone that could make a proper background for the riding skill than I believe it's easy to put that up. But that's low priority.

So, other then that all good for you?

By reading the comments regarding the werewolf perk tree I realized that the image was all right. I too read that debug messages are intended, and right now they are really welcome for the porpuse of testing. I'd really love to have this running along all my playthroughs, this mod concept is something essential if it is implemented just as smooth as the VampLord/WereWolf perk trees are,(don't know if I really like the vanilla concept, but I find that adding to that is simpler than changing those trees too). I hope that more people have a look at this framework, and polish it a bit to seamless add to the game.

By the way, a couple years ago I had 'localized thieves guild jobs' installed and really enjoyed. Thanks for the effort.

Crossposting from the bethesda thread since their forum is being flattened, presumably by fallout 4 traffic.

I'm going to agree with Schlangster that using hlp in a release is a very bad idea.

However I had a proof of concept mod with an SKSE dll plugin that allows swapping perk trees from one AVIF to another without using HLP or anything else that is likely to horribly break things. Preview video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xbjEB-XzBY So if you attach your new perktree to an actor value that isn't used as a perk tree like Aggression or Confidence either in the CK or with TesVEdit then my plugin will let you swap the trees between that AVIF and one that is like One Handed or the one for werewolf skills. Then when you access the perk menu the new tree will show up. It can also change the display name of the skill and what value is used to check if they can take perks. Effectively making it a whole new tree.

The problem is that Skyrim doesn't let you add new AVIF records. The CK won't make then and if you make one in TesVEdit Skyrim will crash on loading if that plugin is active. For Oblivion someone dug through the code and did a patch to allow new skills. I'm totally not capable of doing that for Skyrim and I don't think anyone who is has the time to (like the SKSE team) and there would be many possible ways to break things. My alternative approach was to make functions to read from a plain text file and create something like a temp clone of an AVIF as a dummy to swap from when you change to that skill. And that's as far as I got. I was going to use FISS to do the actual file manipulation but just about all the serialization work still needs to be done.

This is an interesting concept, indeed. Would be great if it could get up and running without CTDs. Although I'd like to help test it out, I don't have any characters currently with the werewolf transformation power, and so it sounds like it will be a bit too much work to give it a try at the moment. Maybe there's an easy way to add the werewolf power through the console you could share, which might make this easier?

Also, just as a side note - I can't imagine what the CTDs would have to do with your rig - HLPing a very simplistic plugin that modifies Actor Value data like this wouldn't be overly demanding on your CPU - the CTDs are probably going to be just as common on a higher-end machine, I would guess. And judging from the HLP thread this may not be a fixable issue. Then again, it may just depend on what kind of data is being loaded -- If you plan to continue pursuing this project, you might want to consider trying it on the vanilla perk tree menu instead of the Werewolf/Vampire trees - perhaps modifying the main trees would be less prone to CTD, as those don't rely as much on weird circumstances, scripts, and keypresses in the game.

You don't need to have a werewolf character. This should work regardless that, with a ww char you just can see the original tree ok. The ctd issue could be test regardless.

I'm afraid I lack the talent and understanding to help out on this one, but the concept is very exciting. If I understand correctly, this could potentially be used to give the Lich transformation in Undeath it's own skill tree, so that it would be up to speed with the other two transformations. It would be really nice to see that done. I've always considered Vampires for Stealth, Werewolves for Combat, and Liches for Magic characters. Seeing them all at the same level of polish and consistency would be amazing.

Yeah, if it's going to be any success with it I imagine it will be most appropriate for transformation mods.

Very interesting read, I will try to help you beta test this as soon as I can. I have werewolf mastery and moonlit tales but im not sure if they alter the perk tree, I haven't played a werewolf in a long time. Do you think I should be fine? or uninstall before testing?

Should be fine, this is the whole point adding new perk trees while having the werewolf one fully working too
