    Dear harriel001.
Can you convert, or remake this mod for Special Edition? I was looking for mod like that and tried to convert your mod myself, but so far I was unsuccessful. Thank you in advance

I have been trying to find a mod that ONLY gives you the ability to improve leather, hide and fur twice as much without adding or changing anything else or causing any bugs. It seems finding that is a quest in itself as the only other mods I found where complete over hauls of the crafting system (something I'm not interested in yet) or full of bugs such as making you level smiting too quickly.

This seems to be my only option although I wish it wasn't a perk and it was just built in that your character could improve leather twice as much from the start. Hopefully there isn't any bugs? and is tes-edit cleaned?

    Can anyone confirm?

I hope you see this, because you said to report any items that remained unaffected by the mod. I was intending to upgrade my Stormcloak Officer set to legendary, but the Stormcloak Officer Armor/Helmet/Bracers didn't seem to be affected by the Improved Smithing Perk. Oddly enough, the Stormcloak Officer Boots were able to be upgraded under the mod's effects.

Other than that, the mod worked wonderfully. I hope you are able to make the adjustments required to fix this small flaw, but even if you are not able to do so, I'll still be endorsing this simple, lore-friendly, and fully-functional mod.

I apologize for the lack of attention I've been giving this page. I haven't really looked at it for about a year now and only just realized that when I updated the files for 1.7 I forgot to include the .esp file in the zip. It's all fixed now so anyone that's still looking to play with this mod can get it here now if they don't have access to it on the Steam Workshop.

    Hi There,

This is a much needeed Mod; Great idea to be able toimprove Leather and Iron armor & weapons for my starting characters.

I use ModOrganizeer, and I can load the "Old" version 1.6 (an ESP file) and see "Improved Smithing" in the Smithing skill tree; but when I load 1.7 (a BSA?) I don't see it in the tree? Any ideas?

    thanks.

Very thoughtful mod as it fills the gap of hybrid characters who want to use simple/leather armor and stop there with smithing, filling the rest of the power gap with Light Armor skill (since from Elven and on they are clearly a different tier of much more specialized light armor, which may be important depending how you view your character/play the game)

It doesn't seem to disagree with vanilla at all as I spent a good amount of thought analyzing any reason they would not want simple armor to be upgradable and I am fairly confident it was just a time/development/not important issue, and not because it would be overpowered.

I think it actually fills a pretty big oversight, because people who want to be Light Armor tanks get stomped on quite hard early on, unless they focus on getting smithing 30 ASAP for upgraded elven armor, which equates to similar power after all the Levels you (and the enemies gained) from smithing just to get to 30.

It also fills the smithing gap as well before Elven armor.

It's too eratic of a curve if you are playing on legendary going from Fine Leather to Superior Elven and now you can even get some use out of the wonderful/immersive Hide Armor all the friendly hunters and townsfolk are wearing in your first introduction of the game

this might not be the case, but when I installed this mod the female dragonborn dlc armor textures didn't work, the chestpiece became a red square and there was a white object in front of their face ( kinda like when you use dark eye in dishonored ), when I uninstalled it it worked perfectly fine. ( so basically every female became a floating head with a set of arms and feet...)

I'll have to look in to that. What armor(s) specifically was(were) affected and what other mods are you using that may affect equipment visuals? I never changed any of the models or visual components for any items, and I never made any changes for any of the DLCs. My guess would be that there's some other mod you're using that does change visuals that somehow conflicted with Improved Smithing's changes to cause this. I'd also guess that if you figured out what mod it was and moved it lower in the load order it's changes would take priority and the trouble you're having would stop.

    Does this affect Tsuns armor?

Tsuns armor was added in the Dragonborn DLC right? I haven't spent much time playing that, but I did comb through the DLC's in the creation kit and as far as I could find all the armors and weapons added were correctly attributed with materials and the materials were added to existing perks in the game. All the DLC equipment should be affected by an already existing perk or be affected by Improved Smithing.

    Just a heads Up.

Not totally certain what you've posted here. It looks like a message from TesEdit about some redundant entries. I've never used TesEdit so I'm not familiar with how it works.
