This finally makes me want to play a vampire again one day!
I was *SO* excited to play a vampire, especially with the "Better Vampires" mod tacked on.....then I got to the castle and was so disgusted I immediately restarted to make a non-vamp character and haven't looked back.
Like others, I always pictured Vampires to be brutal--but classy!
For me, vampires - due to their longevity - have always been sophisticated, highly cultured creatures. What I saw entering the castle for the first time was a pig sty worthy of filthy, primitive beasts. I don't think I've ever set foot there after finishing the quest... Now I will happily come back to the place. Thank you for this mod.
This seems to be useless unless you completed the Dawnguard part of the DLC. However, I do am looking forward to what you seem to have planned for the upcoming mod that you are working. Sounds interesting.
Will it be an update here or will you add it as a separate file later on and link it to here?
It's the case. I'm thinking about a version with a kind of switch to enable/disable elements (but it is a very very significant source of bugs) that could be used by the other side to have a better living mansion. Currently, it's only a project, separated file. I have more or less the story (simple). The only thing I'm sure is, if it's released, it will only involve the players sided with the Dawnguards and will be related to vampires powers and items added for players sided with the Volkihars. I would like the have a mod like this but I didn't find one, so if I really want that I will have to do it by myself... if I can do that.
I feel that the idea of the mod is that just because you are an immortal, powerful vampire, it doesn't mean that you have to live in filth and squalor. This mod removes the trash but still leaves the castle in disrepair.
And also, if you join the Dawnguard Faction, the castle will be finally empty. Du to its size and impressive look, it could be greatly used for other mods.
I can see a use for this mod. After finishing the Dawnguard main quest on the Dawnguard side, I never had any desire to go back to Castle Volkihar because of all that bloody mess. This mod would make it looked like the victorious side cleaned it up for their own use. With a mod like My Home is Your Home, you could even move some of the Dawnguard followers in there.
It's for a mod to come involving the Dawnguard Faction. But I'm not sure I'll finally release it, because I'm not enough skilled with the Creation Kit. So, meanwhile, I give this one. To conclude, if you don't want this mod and think it's useless, don't download it.
