Ugh. Okay, I updated it. Problems I see. 1) Borkul is friendly enough to follow from the get-go. I originally set this so that he's friendly after escaping the mine. I'm going to have to figure out which setting needs to be fixed again. Anyway, that just means if you want it easier, it's easier. I'll fix that if you want me to.
2) There is a Pets of Skyrim bug that makes the Foresworn attack my Bone Wolf the moment we arrive at Druadach Redoubt. It doesn't attack me or my other followers/pets, just the Bone Wolf. Then the Bone Wolf doesn't want to talk to me because it's being attacked. Best solution I can think of is to run a safe distance, then fast travel somewhere else. Then tell Bone Wolf to meet me home or whatever.
3) As soon as I fast traveled back, they started attacking my Reindeer, so I had to go hide my deer before I could talk to them.
4)I finally got my chance to propose to Borkul, in the Druadach Redoubt Cave. I usually catch him outside. Anyway, after I proposed to him, I asked him to follow me. Lydia was following, so I asked her to leave. As soon as I asked her to leave, everyone in the cave started to attack Lydia.
tl;dr Trying to get Borkul is so much more complicated with Anniversary Edition'sblessings, and followers around. LOL! You might just want to use cheat codes and save yourself the trouble.
I never liked orcs before, until I got to fist fight Borkul. Thanks for the update, unfortunately it doesn't work for me on AE. I think it didn't work because because I still have Lydia as a companion, so whenever I talked to him, he would just say the same lines the other forsworn say.
I don't know if you will see this but just wanted to let you know that I couldn't find your mod on the Nexus Skyrim SE page even though it is an AE mod. I only found this mod by chance through Google lol You ever considered posting it there instead of here on the regular skyrim page?
I'm going to try adding an update soon. It's been so long since I've used Creation Kit, I'm mildly overwhelmed. LOL. But I don't really see anything in the file that needs to be changed, except maybe increase his level cap to 250? Let me know if I should.
I'm probably going to marry Aicantar this round, still. Maybe marry Borkul, then backtrack. I don't know. He's pretty beefy.
Has anyone actually gotten this mod to work? You cannot get him to marry you. It only has the option of making him a follower. I'm devastated. He's my one true Skyrim love. Someone tell me how to make this work.
Update: You apparently have to talk to Maramal (?) in Riften before this works. Nothing I read said that and I didn't realize.
You have to have the amulet of Mara to marry any follower, which is obtained in Riften. I operated under the assumption that everyone looking for marriable followers already knew. For that, I apologize. I considered including the amulet some other way but I don't want to make things too simple.
This is a great mod for people that don't use RDO! I just make him a follower and marriable through RDO now because I also use AFT and set him so he doesn't heal and can die. When I marry him in Riften, it screws up the script and he's set essential after that and insta-heals himself. So now I just use RDO to make him my husband so he uses lover dialogue and whatnot. It was the best compromise.
I highly recommend this mod though for people who don't use it. I CAN'T BELIEVE Bethesda didn't make Borkul marriable from the start. He's the only worthwhile husband, doncha think??
i know that i'm commenting like 10 years later, but what to do if i can't get it to work? i finished the quest before, now got the amulet of Mara and when i go talk to Borkul all he says is the reach will be ours again. i admit, my version of skyrim (special edition) isn't bought, but as i know cracked version works with mods too. I looked in mods menu (in game) and it shows that the mod is turned on. Does the mod needs to be enabled before quest or something because now all Borkul says is npc dialogue without choice to speak to him.
Good question. Did you follow these directions completely? ? I haven't played the game in a while but I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work still. I just updated to Anniversary Edition. Maybe I'll take a look and see if anything changed. It'll be a while.
I quote: Yes, I know calling him a beauty might make him mad, but for that brief moment before he puts a pickaxe through my skull, the fire in his good eye will make it worth it!
Man that's just good writing and it cracked me up.

Can you make Borkul a Steward?
Would be great
I am so psyched that this is a thing now. Endorsed.
