About as far as I can go without rebuilding the mesh from scratch (It was my first weapon mesh so it's a bit dodgy, UV seams etc) but my texturing has got a bit better and I promised Nightskia I would put out a standalone version so I did what I could to spruce the old girl up
Standalone version:
Called Stag Head Axe if your looking in console
Same base everything as a Steel War Axe. Craft at any forge under Steel. Temper, Enchant, Enjoy
If you get any NMM shenanigans installing both versions of 0.94 click no to install 'second' version normally and yes or no to the file overwrites. There exactly the same so it's up to you.
believe it or not, that business requires really worked and detailed craft in both tool and technique. Not your typical barbarian would go around chopping beasts with a war axe.
Technically, humanoids would've completely stopped using any melee weapons to hunt animals the moment ranged weapons became a thing, which happened pretty freaking fast in the real world. Just saying. This axe is actually completely wrong, because hunter's/poachers don't use melee weapons to kill animals, so the enchantment is completely pointless to begin with. Chop them up AFTER they are dead, yeah, but not to actually hunt them. Hunters only use a melee weapon in the absolute most dire of situations.
But it's just a videogame, so play it how you want.
Absolutely gorgeous! Sadly, after the early game, it's not much more than a beautiful trophy, but there's not much that can be done about that without swinging it in the other direction and making it too good. Thanks so much for this amazing model!
Will this be ported to SSE? I love it, but it doesn't work in SSE :C Not crashing the game or freezing, but just having everything real messed up on the axe, black dots and holes and weird-looking model... But thanks for this mod anyways, it is so amazing... Looks so good! Usually I do not use remodels/retextures if they have a .ESP since it takes up space for other mods that may do, add or change more, but this one was worth it ^^ Again would be real happy to have it on SSE too, but that's for you to decide of course Endorsed!
I've been back to playing Skyrim (since I noticed two days ago it turned 4 years old)..and I stumbled upon the Poacher's Axe again, on the quest to get Amren's Sword and the Mammoth Tusk for, erm, Whatshername. And well, I just thought "This should look unique, let me check the Nexus for "Poacher's Axe" and see what I get"...good job, sir ^^
