I like this, but the common race names mentioned in the descriptions should be capitalized.

Would you happen to know if this would be easily ported over to Skyrim special edition?

You need to replace "Argonian" with "Saxhleel" too, and perhaps "Imperial" -> "Cyrodiil" (though I guess Imperials will just as soon refer to themselves as being Imperial as being Cyrodilic). Also, see my comment before, in response to seanxx. I love the idea of this mod, but don't replace too much.

Of course, that's why I kept the elf, orc etc in the race description. Besides, I feel as though it would be anti-immersive if every instance was changed. Also, I didn't know Argonians were called Saxhleel! Good to know as a fan of the lore

Yeah. TES lore is really awesome. I last really re-realised this reading the comments on one of Gopher's Let's Play videoes, where the commenters were doing advanced (well, for YouTube comments anyway) sociological commentary backing up there statements with political statuses, historic events, etc.

Don't feel bad about the Argonian thing though. It never really stuck in my mind before my current playthrough, when I talked with the jeweller in the Riften marketstalls, where he comments that he's the only genuine Saxhleel jeweller in Skyrim (or something like that). I feel like it's stuck pretty well now though, finally, after several characters across Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind and countless lore reading on UESP... :p

ps. "Immersive Race Names.esp" is now added to the BOSS masterlist. Cheers.

Personally i think its more immersive for them to be called elves and orcs and such because that is what they are called 90% of the time

Very true. There are two sides to this name change thing and I'm glad someone fell on the other side as it's one I could easily fall into as well. It's why I didn't change it throughout the game, just in character creation. I figured if you were a Dark Elf you would know you were called Dunmer and so the name change made sense from a roleplaying perspective (at least in my eyes).

Thanks; this nit's needed picking forever!
But I hope the object name-changes will be in a separate mod. "Orcish" and "Dwarven" terminology is a matter of common usage; I'd find it anti-immersive if they were called names common folk have never heard of.

That's a good point. I'll make the item changes standalone now. Thanks for the tip

thank you for this, did not know I needed this but now I could not go back.
even though I wont use it directly since it will conflict with requiem it made me go in and edit requiem to make the same changes.

Good idea, I would really love it if Bethesda jcompletelt dropped using the words dwarves/elves/orcs in all future TES releases, Just give us the native names, Its time we left Tolkienese behind

Well, the mer are generally referred to as elves (orsimer as orcs, dwemer as dwarves) by the population of Tamriel, *mer are the Aldmeri names for those races, not the Imperial/Cyrodiil/Cyrodilic names, even though a lot of people seem to know of both names. I like the idea of more "player-oriented" text being presented with their native names, but I wouldn't want to have the names replaced in books and conversations etc.

Having different names for races gives the gameworld greater depth and realism. Tolkien didn't make up these terms; they've been part of English as long as it's been a language (though he did revive "Orc" from Old English).
