Simple yet practical..I would however, like to see this one support the "Batch Crafting Mod" or the mods that allows player craft more than 1 ingot per/prod. Quite a fingerbang if you own a goldmine ye see.. and yep, most of us hav'em bro :S
Great for early game or for when you need quick cash. Imagine using this mod early in game in conjunction with the Transmute spell which can be easily found in Halted Stream Camp which is also an iron mine and a convenient forge in there. SEPTIMS FOR DAYS!
I honestly have to chuckle at people thinking this is counterfeiting or cheating. The creation of a coin is only truly illegal if it devalues the other coins, or makes the created coin more valued than it really is. With the base value of an ingot at 100 gold, the coins are perfectly valued at 100 coins per ingot. Now I admit a guard would have no way of knowing they're perfectly balanced, but maybe you could get a Seal or Permit of some kind that would prove you are making them to the legal standard? Back in those days, a 12oz piece of gold was worth a 12oz piece of gold, regardless of the print on it. (In fact, very well known and wealthy families could "mint" their own coin because as long as the coin was trusted to be pure, it'd be taken) The fact that we use paper and fake coins these days is a huge part of why our economy is failing.
Also as to cheating, you do realize you have to mine the gold right? An ingot is base valued at 100g. That's pocket change for most people and imo hardly game breaking. I'm not even sure a gold ingot is worth breaking down into coins at this rate of exchange considering you could toss a gem into it and triple it's value. But it's a neat idea, so I want it.
It not counterfeiting this was the way most coins were made at one time it only become counterfeiting if you cut the amount of gold used in the mix. And most likely you can buy the molds
It's a cool idea, but it shouldn't definitely count as a crime if someone catches you doing it. It's counterfeiting, after all. A small, randomised chance that shopkeepers catch you when you try to use counterfeited coins would also be a nice addition.
Technically, it would only be counterfeiting if you pressed the same design into them. So long as they are of the same amount of gold, you could make your own unique coin and they would be equal in worth.
