    Interesting. I'm going to see if I can reproduce this on my own setup when I get around to starting DB on my main save then come back and check out this fix if it happens to me too. You should report this to the USKP team if you haven't already and see if it can get added in there.

    Are you sure it's not a specific issue of your game settings + mods you use (= "corrupt" gamesave)?
    Can you reproduce it with a clean config (= no mods and clean data\ subdirs) and "COC Riverwood" from main menu (will start a new test game bypassing intro), then sailing to Solstheim?

      i don't think coc to riverwood from the main menu is a good way to start a clean character. last i heard some things get activated and/or set up during the initial sequence of the game.

      Well the empty dialogue entry I found was in the actual Dragonborn.esm literally at the top of the list of all taunt dialogue for all 3 major master files, and altering it so it stopped being available to all NPCs allowed them to taunt again. I tested mod combos pretty extensively in 2 different characters' savegames before I had figured out the problem to the point where I had no mods that affected dialogue in any way active and the bug was still occurring. I think it was just an entry one of the devs forgot to input data for, and because of its 100 priority and lack of descriptor conditions caused everyone to use it over and over instead of the actual taunts they have.

      Interesting that Gruftlord mentioned things getting activated/set up in the initial opening sequence, becuase taking the boat to Solstheim the first time appears to do something very similar triggering something that makes all the Solstheim scripts and quests active, and the Thirsk quest this bugged line is present in must be one of them. All combat dialogue works as normal before taking the boat, but immediately after it's broken. In fact, something else interesting is that if you COC to Raven Rock instead of taking the boat, the event that activates everything won't trigger, and most NPCs in town are actually missing most of their dialogue options, usually limited to just generic merchant-related ones. It's weird, but in the end seems to all add up.

      If you want to test it, remember that there are different classes of combat dialogue. The most noteworthy other one is "hit" that triggers when they take damage. So they will still use dialogue like "That it? That your best?" or "Like the bite of a flea!" but won't say things like "Don't you see? I am master of the arcane!" or "Nerevar guide me!" or "Pray to Stendarr while you can!" I use UFO and had been playing with large groups of 5+ followers for a while before Dragonborn came out, so I'd gotten used to all the things they'd say, as well as programming some custom dialogue for a follower I made so I noticed pretty clearly when that dialogue started to go missing.

    Most people probably won't even notice their followers stop saying some lines, but this is what enables them to say everything with Dragonborn.

    Me neither. I'm with this new character though, and havent been on Solstheim... however if I have any problems now I know where to look!
