Special Edition maybe? or does it already work with SE?

Edit: it works. Just open the .rar file with NMM.

Ohhh my god I love this mod. Very simplistic but exactly what I was looking for. A lot of clipping going on shields with my weapon placement mods. I love how it looks like a gauntlet in the inventory so you can make the excuse that it's a gauntlet reinforcement if you're looking for immersion like me

This is a great mod, simple yet fun. over all the multiple shield mods i have downloaded i ended up using this for my ranger swordsmen. now may i make a suggestion? this mod is more realistic then you might think, in the time when swordplay was a normal means to settle a duel in places like Europe with those long slender swords called rapiers, there were often those who wore a metal arm guard under one of their arm sleeves, usually the hand with out a sword and used it to block the strike of a sword in the last minute. this was considered cheating by honorable sword duel standards but it was effective. thus
s i suggest that you add a visible arm guard to the arm that is blocking just for looks?

sadly, i don't know how to make meshes or textures.., also, for that to work properly, it would have to sit where the gauntlet is whilst also using the shield slot, which would be kind of difficult. and it would look atrocious when using gauntlets.

Love this concept - great mod! There is a certain amount of badassery here in being able to utilise your armour (bracers and such) in a more actively defensive fashion. And yes - the backhands have been EPIC to say the least. I've knocked bandit leaders off of a few high ledges with this. Thanks again for the fun mod - endorsed!

    Cool Mod.
@Matt Its worth a download for the backhand alone. There are a few npc's that come to mind (Nazeem, Maven, etc) who are going to be my first few victims.

      @ shadow
      You, sir, deserve a medal and Zeek, you do too. I didn't even think of the implications of having an invisible shield until you pointed out the one thing that swayed me and made me decide to download this mod;

      Backhand.

      EVERY NAZEEM.

Thank you for improving my night just that much, you two. :3

Do you guys below always state your opinions on why you're not gonna be using a mod? Give the guy a break.

This is an awesome mod which enables you to block with your armor instead of a shield, perfect for a badass guy in heavy armor.

Most of the arguments you use are stupid. If you're using a hide shield and someone smashes it with a 40 kg maul it would break and so would you. Most light shields would also get penetrated by arrows and thrusts with swords.

It doesn't even have to be heavy armour. I read in a book written by a guy in the Sepoy Uprising in India, he laid a piece of steel up his forarm under his clothes. Long story short, when he put his arm up to block a sword, he says he could see the victory on the other guys face because the opponent thought his arm would be chopped off. Then the look of surprise as it hits steel and your sword enters his body. Yeah I read some obscure books.

I think it's more like this:

The title is a question, rhetorical or not.. people are providing an answer.

You don't want people to tell you why it's a bad idea? Don't put a question in the title of anything.

with some scripting this could be awesome, would be the following:
if you have one hand free and in the other something else, when you block, instead of blocking with the weapons blocks with the free arm, but the armor rating of the "shield" (your arm) depends on the gauntlet being weared, if it detects you have a daedric gauntlet it blocks as if you were wearing a daedric shield (well, the best would be to make it a bit weaker, a shield is better than an arm) so if you have daedric gauntlet blocks better than steel gauntlet. something like that.

its a nice idea, through im completely not sure what script to use. like i know it would have to contain something like

Function SetArmorRating(int armorRating)but i don't know how to target it to use the gauntlet armor rating.

I think this is a pretty cool idea. I agree with Frank too, some sprucing up and this could be pretty popular. Especially considering this would turn your shield bash into a back-hand. lol
