Soul Gems are arcane in nature. shouldn't they be made at some kind of special altar like the Black soul gems or even an enchanting table? gives the player a reason to collect those soul gem fragments. Collect like, 30 SGFs and you can create a common soul gem collect more for higher grade soul gems. Not smelt them at a freakin Smelter!? an Enchanting table man, C'mon!. Not at a smelter, that makes little to no sense.
Oh and...sigh This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, people keep throwing around the word "REALISTIC". Last i checked Soul gems are FANTASY. how can they be realistic?
Even in a fantasy setting how is that realistic? magical crystals that can hold the very soul of man is created at a Smiths smelter, used for creating physical things like Steel and iron ingots. I'd think an Enchanting table would be more appropriate wouldn't you? :l
I often go out to the shops and buy my soul gems i mean tesco have them on sale, wait a sec there is no such thing as sould gems in the real world so how can you have realistic soul gems in skyrim?
Soul gems are crystals not metals. This would go under Alchemy and potions, growing crystals in a jar, not smelting with metals. If you take the Alchemical option, then you could also add soul gem fragments as well. Speed up the growth of soul gems by allowing the potions made from raw ingredients to 'bind' with the fragments.
Would fit to the lore, but I think the human skull is hard enough. Also the mod will be useless with Skyrim Redone. I suppose I've only found about 5 deadra hearts with my current char on level 45. Eaten one, one for an orc stronghold, so there are 3 left. Farming Blackreach would be more useful.
