Looks great so far, but if you would take a recommendation of mine, it would be this:
Ditch the planned Call of Cthulu themes, poor Cthulu has been roused from his sleep far too many times by others, I'm sure he would enjoy remaining in his slumber while the other, less prominent, and criminally underused Elder Beings, Outer Gods, and other Great Old Fogeys romped around.
maybe use Tsathoggua not as powerful as Cthulu but still a powerful great old one and you don't all ways go insane meeting him maybe get power from him
+1, quite interesting mod so far, and so, looking forward further content
Edit : Seem browser had some curious happening, the comment was indicated as loading, while it was posted multiple page ? This while I did not reload for quite some minutes, hm.
Please don't give up on this! If it would help at all, I could at least make cells and use in-game resources to make physical locations per your thoughts. I'm not looking to interfere in any way, simply want to help with something that connects to something I'm also passionate about.
Whelp, there goes the next several months of my life, checking daily for updates because I'm obsessive whilst listening to The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets
Aye, still on the table.. but not necessarily being worked on. Video Game school is hard stuff, oddly enough, and eats up a lot of time. (For example, I has a 15 hour work day today, Saturday). But don't loose hope, this is still one of my main personal projects!
Actually, what plans I have for the mod largely by-pass the Daedric Princes. Such beings are too petty to be compared to Outer Gods - yet without much spoilers, I am considering ties with Shub-Niggurath and Nir of the Anuad. Of course, there is more to Lovecraftian beings than just Lovecraft.
See, that's an interesting interpretation. I always saw Sithis as the embodiment of nothing - and Azathoth as the embodiment of everything. This is an interesting interpretation, and I'll have to think on it when I get back into the project.
Omg this looks absolutely amazing. And judging by the timestamp on your last post, you are still working on it. I am going to follow this mod, and will download once it has reached a slightly more complete state. Anyone who enjoys lovecraft has my full support. Looking forward to it.
This looks really cool, I'm quite a Lovecraft fan myself. I won't download it yet, but when it's finished I hope to, if it doesn't need SKSE. One thing - you might have considered this already, but will you find ways to integrate this mod with elements from the Dragonborn DLC? Hermaeus Mora is obviously Cthulhu, and there are a lot of other Lovecraft references in the DLC. It would seem out of place for the content of this mod to be totally outside of that, so I'd suggest giving deities etc. their Skyrim names (if they have them) rather than the original Lovecraftian ones, to improve immersion. I'd really like this mod to feel like it fits in with existing Lovecraftian elements in Skyrim, as there are already quite a few. Make it both lore-friendly and Lovecraftian!
You could even have new Black Books like the ones in Solstheim, although putting the Necronomicon itself in might be lore-unfriendly. You could have something like "The Call of Herma-Mora" and other subtlish references. I don't know if the Apocrypha areas require a ton of scripting though. They might do.
Good luck with the mod and I hope to try it out when it's done.
Ia! LordNyarlathotep, Rest assured I am taking as many steps as to creating as much balance between the two lores as I can, without seeming, of course, on the nose. For example, to my knowledge, the name Nyarlathotep will not be coming up once except in text (and even then it might need to be translated ;p ) - even though it is one of the main forces of the campaign. I have had the Dragonborn DLC for some time, but only recently managed to get it functioning and playable. That said, I currently don't have plans to add Dragonborn DLC content to the mod - especially in the current Development state - with respects to keeping to mod available for more people. A lot of the content in that is very much specifically Cthulhu oriented, and in keeping the lore friendly all around I find it hard to wrap a very much Earth deity in the current plot set up. That said, things may change down the road. Beyond Furthest Borders for Oblivion was originally planned as a compilation mod. = ) As it happened, I did make a fair amount of progress in the working prototype build over the winter holidays. I'm still in school, however, still playing games (Dark Souls and Metal Gear Rising are pretty good by the way), and still have a pathetic work ethic - but things are still happening. I'm not going to make and never update promises again, so I'll just say that I'm in the position so that a functioning release of a new development build is not out of the cards within the next few months (or week, depending if I wake up and suddenly feel productive tomorrow). Praise the Red God, Chaosian
Ia! That sounds great and I can see what you mean about being inclusive to non-Dragonborn users. But I suppose similar sorts of themes might come into play.
I was just thinking it would be kind of funny if my character Nyarlathotep (an evil Redguard vampire-lord) was playing though a questline involving "himself" as antagonist. I guess I could use a different character.
By the way, I was thinking about links between daedra and Lovecraftian gods. Shub-Niggurath and Hircine? Yog-Sothoth and Molag Bal? Azathoth and Sithis? Don't know if that's useful in any way whatsoever.

Lord Nyarlathotep
It seems interesting ^^
