Yes that is exatly the whole point of this mod, for "role" playing a char who is a native nord. Though actually in vanilla char creation the soldier tells a nord char "you chose a bad time to come home" or something to that effect, like they are indeed from Skyrim.
I'm glad that you thought of this and you created this. Once again it's modders like you that remind me why Skyrim is the best role play game out there. This really fits my character and her role.
My character's story is kind of like yours. She is a true nord born and raised except she was traveling near the boarder. My character loves collecting plants for alchemy. She was about to pick some blue flowers. When a sabre cat confronted her. She managed to kill it. But, near by a fight was in progress between the Imperials and Stormcloaks. She tried to run for cover but her foot caught in a skeever hole and she fell. Unfortunately the hero of this story is a major derp. She hit hard and blacked out. Apparently the Imperials won and found her unconscious. Judging by her light hide armor and still covered in sabre blood spatter, they assumed she was part of the fight. Later of coarse they see they made a mistake. But they were all chop chop. Move along and die now. This is why I always side with the Stormcloaks.
So why does my character seem new to Skyrim? She was home schooled. Both her parents were heroes in their day. Unfortunately heroes attract a lot of enemies. If the enemy can't get the hero, they go after your family and loved ones. So she is not new to Skyrim. She's just been living like a wildling and being trained like Conan by her mom and dad. Coarse they died tragically. Later she will learn it was those pesky Thalmors.
Thanks for sharing the great story blackkat9, I`m glad to hear this ! And allways beware those skeever holes in the future ! And everyone else also, thanks for your comments and endorsements!
Yeah...on my first play-through as a nord, joined the Stormcloaks figuring Galmar would be a bit more friendly. Then when he said "why would a foreigner want to fight for Skyrim?" me: Huh?? She's a Nord, she IS from Skyrim you blockhead! >_>;
Hell, there're just about 2-3 nps in entire Skyrim who recognize you as a Nord which makes choosing Nord character completely pointless. Bethesda's dialog system sucks pretty hard as always.
Custom Nord Race= players who are playing (technically any) new race by other mods for cosmetic purposes, and, in this case, want to roleplay that character is a Nord . Well the "custom race could be called and look like"New and More Devastating Nords" to "Argonian Dremora of Arrgh" and my mod would still not notice, it treats all custome races the same
Hi!Though only now uploaded, I last edited the mod past summer so must look "under the hood" 1st, but Ill list changes better on the description soon, sry about that!
But basically it changes the structure of wich sentence leads to wich one in a nords (or custom races) talk with G., (thus makes the Foreigner line not appear) and changes some of the players written dialogue lines to make the new structure work/make sense. Also moves places where some quest script triggers during conversation are completed after a line is said. It still should be very apparent that you are wanting to join the Stormcloaks etc, and he`s not sure if u got the right reasons for that, you tell him you want to fight for your contry, all using the old voiced dialogue plus slightly altered player dialogue .
Technically the joining conversation with Galmar is a little quest in itself, so this mod does not mess up anything else in the Stormcloak questline, and should be compatible with any mod that does not affect this first talk with Galmar.
Interesting, I had not noticed this problem. I think the player is called a foreigner even if he or she is a nord because they came from Cyrodil. That was why we were captured crossing the border. Unless you found hidden dialogue that was intended for nord characters I don't quite understand what you did.
Yes, think so too, I guess Beth meant that player would be a nord born someplace else & never even seen Skyrim before- maybe to give reason for a 1st time players feeling that everything is new? But my nord had just wandered across the border hunting, when crossing back she ran inot a fight between imperials and Stormcloaks, was knocked in the head, only later one of the imperials realised she was just crossing the border home ...And my other nord, basically same story but she`d been visiting her granny in Bruma !
This does not add new hidden dialogue, but changes the condition for Galmars existing dialogue to appear and structure of the dialogue tree/quest stages triggering a bit. Plus it changes some of the lines the player says to Galmar, so the conversation should still make good sense.
Seems like a nice immersion-keeping mod. If I imagine my character as a Nord who was out of the country for a while, I sure don't appreciate being called a foreigner.

Please clarify the description.
